    Good place to stay

    • Japanese-Style Quadruple Room

Booking/google maps had issues with maps and directions but this is not the host fault.

Location: I thought the location wave very inconvenient, however the issue was actually with google maps. Narutaki Station is close by but GMaps gets confused on walking from it to the residence. The booking website also had issues with showing me where the property was for some reason. Host: She was very nice and a pleasure to stay with. If you know basic Japanese she is fun to converse with. Stay: Our stay was nice. Host provided more pillows at our request so those pickier didnt have to use rice pillows. Breakfast was good and my family enjoyed it each morning.

The road is quite narrow, as it’s really the local housing area.

Great to have a taste of Local Japanese living, great host! The friendly grandma who manage the house all by herself really treated us like her own grandchild.

Beautiful ryokan with welcoming host somewhat spoiled by scent of tobacco smoke and exorbitant price

Listing stated the property was smoke free but it smelled of cigarettes. As our room was upstairs the smell up there was very strong and interfered with sleeping. The place is beautifully designed but was overpriced compared with similar ryokan we stayed in elsewhere.

Host Mrs Nakamura was welcoming and the location was good for getting to Arashiyama. Ryokan had a good design and the bath was nice. We were given mikan and she made us coffee for breakfast. She made us feel very welcome.

    Nothing to comment

Very warm, chatty and welcoming owner who stays in the same house downstairs. She makes you a delicious breakfast in the morning snd welcomes you with a cup if tea o coffee in the afternoon or evening. I enjoyed my stay to that extend that I offered to make and teach her how to make a banana cake for her to give to us and other guests. The house is a modern version from a traditional Japanese house plan but very well designed by the owner who studied Arts
