Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyThe only thing that we didn’t like was that we couldn’t arrive earlier to 14:30 to leave our stuff before check in.
In overall it was pretty good, very clean and the room was bigger than expected. Excellent location, near to the main station with multiple transportation options

New ZealandThe room set up, with little space to access the bathroom (door opening the wrong way). The laundry facilities had 4 washing machine, but only 1 dryer in working condition. With the size of the hotel, there was always someone using the drier, and we ended up with a huge rack in the small bedroom to get our clothes dry. 15 min walk from the station.
The room was nice, with all you need. The staff was friendly.

The staff are very helpful and the hotel has good amenities. It is located in a quiet residential area, which is great for people who want to avoid the crowded parts of Kyoto.

ItalySending and receiving luggage with delivery services is inconvenient because they cannot handle luggage unless they are on location. Garbage separation and disposal needs to be done very carefully. Not a big deal but be careful.
The room was very spacious, with plenty room for three luggages. Good amenities freely available from the reception and free laundry machines. Good location (10 minutes from public transport, about 15 to Kyoto station). Not a bad thing per se, but note this is not a standard hotel: there is no daily room cleaning service and the reception is available only during limited hours.

ItalyAmazing services. You have everything you need and beyond. The bed was very comfortable, the temperature of the room was adjustable as you like, you have hairdryer, toothbrushes, hear bugs, shampoo, towels, a little hair brush and all of that as many times as you like cos you can find more items at the reception. The laundry service brilliant, 4 washing machines and 3 dryers, hangers, washing liquid, ironing stuff everything you need. The location is very handy if you’re planning to take the train often as is 15 minutes walking from Kyoto station. Very recommended!

GermanyWe hoped it would be a bit closer to the station since it says "Kyotoeki" (Kyoto Station) in the name and we just needed two nights close to the station but I guess it was our fault that we didn't properly check.
It was a very nice neighbourhood! The room was great and clean. The staff was very polite.

United Kingdom20mins walk away from train station and 35-40mins walk away from any of the other main tourist attractions, lacking of buses etc near this area. Pillows were very hard. The USB port in our bedroom didn't work and the staff didn't have a UK adaptor so staff simply told us as 9pm at night we had to go out and buy one which was not easy considering both our phones were out of battery. Also check in seems very procedural as there isn't staff there all the time (including where fire extinguishers are etc) and in the (huge) manual, they talk a lot about the rubbish and that there is a fine if you don't sort your rubbish properly.
Great facilities in terms of fridge, freezer, free washer and drying facilities, 'help yourself amenities'(the drip bag coffee is really good!). You can now check in at the hotel building (not at another one as per previous reviews). Good value for money.

GermanyWe sometimes missed a kitchen - but that´s something you know in advance so not really a negative point about the Inn. There is nothing else that we didn´t like.
The acommodation is located in a quiet street almost next to the stunning temple of Higashi Hongan-ji. Kyoto station is very close, which is especially convenient when arriving or leaving by train or when you plan to go on day trips. You have supermarkets, 24-hour-shops, restaurants and almost all kind of shops in rather short walking distance. Kawaramachi shopping street with nice shops and a Ninja-museum as well as the Nishiki market are around 30 minutes walk from JP INN. Nijo-jo is about 35 minutes, Gion is about 40 minutes and the emperor´s palace is about 45 minutes walk. Anyway, Kyoto has a well-working public transport, so if you prefer you can get anywhere by bus in less time. The room was big, with a private bathroom, bathtub to relax and a tiny balcony. It comes with a fridge and electric water jug and you get free tea bags and coffee. You can take new towels every day. The room was nicely clean. We didn´t have much contact with the staff, but when we forgot something in the room after checkout they were really attentive and caring. I found very useful that there was a laundry room with several washing machines, dryers, free detergent and even clothes drying racks to take to your room!
