Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Location is good, just 600m away from the Kyoto station. Room is clean and tidy, room size is okay, there’s a single bed plus a semi-double bed in my room, quite enough for a couple. Staff are super nice. On the day we checked out, it was raining heavily, but the staff were so generous and they gave us two umbrellas to use for free, really appreciate. The rubbish recollection is a bit complex though, you can see how Japanese people protect their environment and homeland, and I think as a foreigner, we really should learn from them. Overall I give 10 out of 10 for my stay here and definitely recommend this hotel.

IndonesiaThere were rules where you have to separate your own garbage, which is complicated but there are guidelines provided in every room, so it was alright.
The location is close by Kyoto station, and the neighborhood was quiet and really nice. The room had a terrace and the bed is very comfortable. A shared laundry room is provided free of charge.

JapanOne suggestion is to check if water boiler is clean or not after each check out, because we found it was dirty. Probably the previous person cooked something inside the boiler.
Beds were absolutely comfortable, and too spacious for a couple.

DenmarkThe room was very humid and the dehumidifyer had to be on at all times, eveb though it was very loud. Also, the rooms are extremely small and we didn’t have any space for luggage or ourselves. The place had an extreme amount of rules as well, and it was a little hard to figure anything out and the staff didn’t seem welcoming either.
It had a washing machine, a tiny kitchen, ameneties and all the stuff you could need.

New ZealandThe bed was a little uncomfortable could feel the springs. Nowhere to sit up with back support/ lean again the wall. The space was quite small. Having to rinse containers in a tiny sink was challenging. The walls were marked and dirty which didn’t really effect anything just a little yuck to look at. Walls are thin so can hear others next door. Not terrible but noticeable. Can’t leave your bags if you wanted to but the train station was close by so could rent a locker there. After we booked we got a super intense message about check in and if you were late could cost you hundreds of dollars. This could be stressful if travelling from far away or not sure exactly when you were going to get in.
Good location, close to the train station and within walking distance of most things we wanted to see (we did walk a lot) quiet local area which was nice. Handy to have washing machine in the room and microwave. Lovely staff.

AustraliaTerrible value for money. Apart from lovely staff, we felt like it was staying at a backpackers hotel but paying 3+ star prices. Very strict rules about arrival and departure times, unable to store luggage early or after checkout made things challenging. Also threats of fines if you break any rules such as checking out a few minutes late. The kitchen facilities were the barest minimum including no eating knives. Also the carpets on our landing were badly stained and that was a real turnoff. I could not stay there again.
Location and the few staff.

United Kingdom- staff’s attitude towards customers. They sent us a 30 pages brochure of what NOT to do, threatening us with huge fines or even police?! What kind of place does that? - there were yellow stains looking like piss in our toilet - they knocked at out door to check out a MINUTE after 10 rushing us to leave? Not very welcoming.

BrazilA *lot* of rules (including some bizarre ones like paying ~$300 USD if you check in at the wrong time), check in is very late and check out is very early, no self check in, company rules don't allow you to use the toilet if your room is not yet ready (did I mention the weird check in hours?), *lots* of "mess this up and you will pay a big fee!" fearmongering, general bureaucracy Bonus but not very important when you're in Kyoto: the TV is basically useless unless you want to watch public japanese TV broadcast. It's ancient and doesn't have YouTube/Netflix/phone mirroring
Close to Kyoto Station, lots of konbinis/food nearby, room is reasonably spacious and reasonably cheap, washing (and drying) machine in the room, good bed, good amenities, helpful staff (as helpful as they were allowed to be by company rules) Would still recommend it, but read all the rules carefully and make sure to time your arrival to the check in hours to avoid headaches

ItalyNo room cleaning during your stay, but you are free to borrow a vacuum cleaner, cleaning products and fresh sheets at the reception (I'm sorry?) Anyway, I have short brown hair and I found a few long black ones under the bed and in the bathroom on day one. Expensive extra charges for those willing to check-in after 9pm, such as a huge taxi fare to be paid for the staff to go home (I'm sorry?) WiFi signal gets weak after 8pm. Being a place frequented only by westners, expect some noise when they check out early in the morning.
Very good location, in a quiet residential area close to the station with lots of restaurants and convenience stores nearby. Since I am traveling around Japan for one month, it was good to have a washing machine in my room. Ok for one/two nights stay, due to the affordable rates.

IndonesiaWalls and floors are very thin, you can hear people walking around above you and next to your room. Very rigid with their rules, no place to store luggage after check out. I already know this beforehand so there's no surprise, but I still feel anxious the whole stay, trying to comply with all the rules especially trash separation. Energetically it's not relaxing to feel so controlled during a holiday.
Very comfortable bed , nice duvet and pillows! Washer and dryer in the room, microwave. Great location Friendly, helpful staff who speak English
