The breakfast was a little disappointing compared to the dinner. It was still good, but definitely not as good as the dinner.

We loved the experience of staying at a more traditional place, since the rest of our trip we only stayed at hotels. We were also surprised by how good the dinner was. The staff was very friendly and explained everything to us. The baths were also very relaxing. You need to reserve your spot a few hours in advance, but it's worth it. You can even try the kimonos for a fee, which was a great experience. Another thing that we found very convenient was the fact that you could pay for everything you buy during your stay at the end. We hope to come back here in the future. Special thanks to Nami, which took a lot of nice pictures of us dressed in kimonos, and was the first person to witness our engagement.

The establishment was beautiful. The hot bath tube was super confortable at the eveving to warm up and relax. The food was super tasty and varied. Would definitely recommend it. Attending the buddhist morning prayers (5:30) was such a great unique experience.

This place took my breath away. It wasn't easy to access, but with locals' help, we get there. It's a unique place with a very friendly staff and charming garden. The food was excellent and we wish to stay longer. We had a wine bath, a wooden bath, a massage, and time to relax and reflect. I am recommending this experience.

Now, this is something special. I wasn’t prepared by for the trip from Tokyo to Mount Minobu and it’s sheer beauty. The meals were an absolute feast. The rooms were spacious and kotatsu in my room as it was quite cold. I was so so happy I was staying here for two nights. The nearest conbini or supermarket is FAR so come prepared. The temple grounds and the mountain make everything up for it. Please do understand that it is a rural area and that getting here by public transport and getting around in the village is doable but not the easiest if you aren’t fit to walk up/downhill

Traditional wooden building and rooms. Food was great. Very friendly hosts, they speak english well. Area is beatiful although many trees dont have leaves in winter. I bet in spring or autumn is even better. Attending the prayer at the main temple is a must!

So calm and authentic. This place is in a great location and perfect for winding down. The temples near by are just a short walk distance, and amazing to get immerse in Buddhism if you are interested. The food (we stayed with half board) was literally the most tasty I had in Japan! Wish I could eat like this everyday. The staff the most kind ever and ready to help us with any activity. We did yoga in the meditation room, and it felt very special. Wish we could have done more activities though! We also came in the cold months and there was enough heating to keep us comfortable inside. The baths are great too, and very clean. Wish to be back soon. Thank you so much

The location is amazing. Close to main shrine as well as small town. Room was clean, food was absolutely amazing and filling. There is a possibility to reserve a private bath (for free) that reinvigorates you. The stay and the atmosphere is really unique with authentic temple lodging. Would 100% come back

    I should have stayed longer!

We loved this place, it was our favourite stay on the whole trip. The walk to the temple is lovely. The little town is so nice with friendly and helpful locals. The whole area had a peaceful atmosphere. We got half board and the food was amazing. The onsen is lovely and private onsen time is free, you just put your name on the board. The staff were so lovely and we were lucky to be treated to a Taiko drum performance. I can’t recommend this place enough. The garden in the center is beautiful.

Everything! The best accommodation experience of my life. The staff was amazing, very helpful and friendly, making sure you have a fantastic stay. The food is super tasty and an amazing experience. The lodges out back were comfy, cozy and comfortable. The private bathroom (you could book a slot for on day itself) was amazing too. There is a beautiful garden you look out on from the dinner room. All in all just a fantastic experience. Thanks to the entire staff, so much appreciated!!

No sign of Fuji on the days we were there, but the weather was to blame, not the location!

Maybe the schedule to have a bath, it is a old building and no shower on the floor therefore you have to book 30 minutes in a bath . The bath was very nice . But the schedule 4pm to 10 pm is too short, especially when you stay many nights and you wanted to go in the morning...

Nice temple, not so famous than koyasan, for me more authentic...it is a good option between tokyo and kyoto to have a rest, minimum 2 nights, the landscape is amazing with mountains. The staff is very nice, helpful and they explained everything at the check in...the food is very good, it is japanese food, they explain the dishes. I stayed 3 nights and i appreciated that they changed the dinner every time for me. You can wake up at 5 am for the morning prayer in the big temple, 20 minutes walking distance. It is easy to go there from Tokyo and go to kyoto...

Waited long to be served between dishes during dinner. It lacks a little bit of special experience feeling for staying at Shukubo while it has a lot of commercial products and service geared for foreigners. Other Shukubo would be very hard foreigners to reserve and stay. So it is a matter of balance.

Special experience for staying Shukubo. Staff are very nice.
