Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaTiny space and no where to put luggage as they have a no shoe rule for the area next to the bed, which is the only place you would be able to put your luggage. Towels were super thin and bathroom was a tight squeeze.
Location was the best part. 15 minute walk from Dotonburi and lots of delicious food and shops. The staff were also friendly and provided fresh towels and pjs and they made our bed everyday.

IsraelArrived without a booking after our previous hotel did not want us to stay there due to having tattoos. We were much better for it as we found Kamon Hotel. We were able to book the Tatami room upon arrival through Booking.com and get a better deal on the room than the price the front desk was asking for. Great room, clean bathroom, and amazing location!

CroatiaA cramped room that smelled like a damp bamboo, staff were not able to communicate in English, one elevator for entire hotel, no complimentary drinks in the evening when I checked in, nor in the morning when I was leaving
Location, location, location, the rest was pretty mediocre and too expensive for what it was

GreeceTerrible front office & management: I booked one room for one night and two rooms for the following as our friends were joining us. From 2 months before our stay we tried to tell us that we would like to have the same room for both nights of our stay so that we wouldn’t have to check out. They started the email by “room very cheap” referring to the first night where there was a small gap in price (I thought that the gap was because we didn’t want breakfast for the first night). in any case I upgraded the room via booking. Even so when I arrived at the hotel it took the front office around 1 hour just to find our reservations. none of them spoke English well enough for basic communications. We tried to convince them -we offered to pay extra- to put us in the same room in 3 separate occasions but we couldn’t as “the first room was in a different category than the second” even though they had the same price. I had to speak to the hotel manager to sort it out only to find out that the expensive and the cheap rooms were exactly the same with the small change that one had tatami mat in the 1 square meter that you could walk on. We spent at least 2,5 hours from our stay in Osaka dealing with this simple (in my opinion) issue. The rooms were too small for two guests to be standing at the same time. One must stay in bed in order for the other to stand.
Good location.

United KingdomI have visited Japan 12 times and am used to small rooms, I usually pay around this price and level of stars. So I know what to expect, but this was utterly ridiculous and seemed very unsafe. There was literally nowhere to even stand up a suitcase, never mind lay it out. The only place you could put a suitcase, never mind, two was so it was blocking the room door, thus blocking any exit in an emergency. It didn't feel safe. Especially in a Country prone to earthquakes. The bathroom sink area had literally no space to put your washbag, like no where, it had to go on the floor. The bathroom stank of damp, really smelly. The two beds were so close together you couldn't even walk between them, it felt like I was in bed with my travelling companion, good job it was my Daughter. Both nights we were both kept awake with what we initially thought were police sirens outside but on the second night realised it was the wind screaming up the alleyway where the hotel was, very very loud. Kettle in room with cups, but that was it, no tea or coffee, not even green tea sachet. The breakfast shown online depicts a choice between western & Japanese, no choice was available, Japanese only. It looked pretty, but actually very little food provided, just served elegantly. Personally, I can't eat raw beef and raw prawns at any time of day, but especially not at 8am. Also, it was in a very scruffy area, never seen the like in Japan before, maybe it's just Osaka, it was like being in the more unpleasant parts of London, complete with the shouting & swearing drunk sitting at the corner nearby.
Very close to station. Convenient to easily travel to airport in one train. Reception area made to appeal to Instagram users. - is that a positive ???

AustraliaThe room was compact making it a bit tricky to store and access our suitcases but that wouldnt stop me from staying there again.
Location is perfect for all the eateries and markets around Dotonbori. The subway is very close. Our room was compact but had everything you need for a comfortable stay including excellent reception staff and servicing of the room. They tagged and stored our luggage for free after we checked out as we didnt leave Osaka till late. Free coffee in the lobby sitting area was a bonus. I would definitely stay here again.

SingaporeRoom is a bit small and don't have cupboard/hanging rack, but understandable given most Japanese hotel rooms are small.
Location was exceptional, really close to two stations. Lots of food options, konbini nearby. Near Dotonbori which is a major POI. The design of the hotel is really hip! Nice decoration Room was spotless. While a bit small, it's very comfortable. The bed and pillow made a good sleep. Staffs were friendly and helpful too.

SpainAbsurdly small room for 3 people. Barely enough room for 2. And we got 2 small "double" beds that we had to push together to have enough room to sleep 3. The room should NOT be advertised for 3.
