Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Czech RepublicThe lodge is all uphill from the bus station. They do have a shuttle service on request, and it ran frequently - We only found out about it after we lugged all our luggage up - - I only blame myself for not reading the fine print.....
We did not eat at the lodge. The location was near the heart of Zao, so restaurants and the bus to Yamagata were very accessible. Only a 1-block walk to put your skis on and glide to the base of the gondola. The lodge was vibrant with activity but the rooms were quiet. A nice big room to store ski and dry equipment, boots and clothing. The natural onset (hot spring) was nice and hot, with a very well-maintained set-up through an insulated passageway from the main lodge. The proprietors were very understanding and generous when problems with the bullet train caused us to miss the first night of our stay.

United StatesThere was some rust coming out of the bath faucet in room 309. Unfortunately many staff were absent due to the flu; it would have been nice to rent equipment at the hotel.
Great location that is close to the ski slope, dry room for equipment, spacious room.

AustraliaFood options were incredibly expensive and no real options for vegetarians or pescatarians. It’s a pity as it would be incredibly popular with guests if the food was reasonably priced as there are not many options in the town.
Great location. Room was good and had a beautiful outlook.

New ZealandWe weren’t going to have meals but we’re convinced it would be hard to get food in town on New Year’s Eve. We ate in town the night before and it was cheap and easy. The food at the hotel is beautiful, but quite expensive, and expense we weren’t planning on for our stay.
Awesome place with ski on access to the field. Driver picked us up from the bus stop, and drove us down and back to collect our ski gear. Staff were super friendly, and the room was lovely!

AustraliaThe bathroom needs a face lift ie taps etc as they are stiff. Overall it could do with a renovation but the maintenance quality makes up for it.
Jacki was a fabulous host! The staff with minimal english were great - they all tried to help and got an english speaking staff member when needed. The hotel is exceptionally clean and well maintained. The location to the slopes is great and the hotel shuttle was a great addition. We were able to ski in and out each day.

MalaysiaThe location is 10-15min walk from the ropeway and eateries. However, because its located on top of a hill, the 10 min walk can be quite tiring. Free shuttle is only provided to the ropeway or train station. If you are planning to drive there, this is not an issue.
Overall the staff were friendly.
