Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThis hostel blew me away - totally exceeded all expectations. The staff couldn't have been lovelier, the space is somewhere you could spend days relaxing in and it is spotlessly clean. Huge bonus there is a fantastic coffee shop which shares the space and serves proper coffee with delicious cookies. The best hostel I have stayed in by some distance.

United KingdomThis is a great place to stay in Onomichi. We stayed in a private room and it really does not have a hostel vibe at all. The decor is really stylish and nice. The staff were lovely. We loved the Japanese breakfast.

United KingdomLittle bit isolated from the rest of town, but only 15mins walk away from train station so can't complain.
The shared female rooms are lovely, very clean and spacious so even if people around you are moving around, the sounds aren't amplified by echos/lack of space. Toilets and showers were clean, with soap/shampoo provided. Very friendly staff and there is a cute little cafe downstairs which looks great.

MexicoThe location feels a tad far away from the main area so the are not many places to eat out. However, there are a few good supermarkets about 10 minutes walking.

AustraliaVery spacious room with private toilet. The shared showers and basins were a throwback to boarding school. It was a quiet time of the year so no queuing to share the facilities. It’s in a quieter part of town but only a 10 min walk to centre and an excellent ramen place is only a 5 min walk away. Vivian on reception was the best! Very helpful and knowledgeable about the town and things to see and do and eat. Masaki and Leslie make amazing coffee and an excellent cookie downstairs. We had a number of fantastic chats with them about all things Japan over an Asahi or coffee or two. Overall the facility and amenities were well designed, well kept and very clean.

United StatesNothing I would change - We really enjoyed our stay!
We loved our stay at Lemonsea! It was just a little bit outside of the main street area, but still very convenient to walk (~10-15 min) to the water, JR Onomichi Station, and U2. The staff were so kind, greeting us and making conversation when we came in and out, and there's a bar area where you can purchase beer and sake in the evenings or super high-quality coffee and tea in the mornings and sit in the beautifully designed common area. We stayed in a private room on the first floor which was so spacious, clean, and had everything we needed. You can easily reach the main downtown area by foot with shops, restaurants, and bike rentals in ~15 mins. There's also a large supermarket <5 min. by foot nearby for any quick needs. We had a wonderful 2-night stay in Onomichi here!

United StatesBeds a little on the firm side, but not unusually so.
Size and layout of room was pleasing and comfortable, shared shower facilities were clean with good privacy. Shared areas were very charming, along with the rest of the property. Location was not in the middle of things, but a short pleasant walk from ferries, train, and shopping area.

ItalyThe location is a little bit far away from the town centre - it's a short walk there (maybe 15 minutes?).
Lemonsea is a great place to stay! The room was huge and the bed super comfortable, plus the design is really nice. Wifi is reliable, too (my husband was working from the lobby area late in the evening). The room was spotless, had a sink and a toilet and a nice sitting area. The common showers were extra clean, too. No better place to stay after sweating on a bicycle on the Shimanami Kaido (and it's super close to the bike rental right next to the ferry terminal). The staff was great and they gave us recommendations on where to eat close by! Thank you so much, we had a perfect stay!

JapanThe smell in the bathroom was strong, I wish that could be improved, and there was a running noise from upstairs all the way from 7am on the second night. I didn't mind it too much myself, but it seemed to wake up my friend early in the morning. I wanted 2 extra hanger when it was 10 minutes before the staff left, but was told there were none, so that was a bit disappointing.
It takes about 10 minutes to Shinkansen Shin-Onomichi Station by bus, and about 6 minutes by cab. JR Onomichi station is about a 10 minute walk and a 3 minute cab ride. There is an electronics store EDON and a recycle store in front of the building, and an AEON mall open until 10:00 pm is a 5-minute walk away. There are staff members who can speak Chinese and Japanese and a little bit English. The laundry service is available for 500 yen, which is very convenient. If you need a cab, the staff will call one for you. My favorite things are the design of the room, the lighting and the quality of the bedding. The quality of the shampoo, body soap, etc. was very high. The kettle, hair dryer, and bed supplies are not inexpensive fixtures, not very expensive, but you can tell they were all carefully chosen. From that, you can feel the thoughtfulness of the owners. The bed here is the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever stayed in. Staying here makes me feel as if in my own house.
