Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsIt is a bit far from hakone train station by bus (40 min) , so good to plan ahead the time to arrive and catch the bus.
Everything was perfect. When we arrived, there was a piano performance at the reception. View is gorgeous, bedroom very spacious, clean and comfortable. Amenities were great. The staff was great and very friendly. Food was amazing, we were very impressed by the quality and extensive menu. It was a great experience going to dinner wearing the Yukata. The onsen in the bedroom and private open air onsen were big and with view to the river. The hotel provides every day transfer to the close train station. We could walk to Chuiji waterfall and there was a 7/11 within a short walk.

Bosnia and HerzegovinaHotel is quite old and does not justify the high price you pay. Dinner and breakfast, beautifully presented but there is something missing (breakfast). Hotel has a transfer, but no pick up from the station after 17:00, you get a taxi for 3000 yen.
Nice welcome from the staff, they were really super helpful, all of them! We had rooms with a private outside bath which definitely made our stay more enjoyable. We received wake up call at 8:00 for breakfast, yes we did confirm that time for at the dinner, but we we didn’t ask for wake up call.

Australiahotel itself was old but the room was well maintained and kept clean. the toilet room was a bit small as you will be facing the wall as soon as you sit down. will be a struggle to tall people I assume.
Everything! from the private and public onsen, to the kaiseki dinner, and the birthday greeting. staff were nice and accomodating, even drove us to the train station when we went out the next day. and very prompt in answering online. room had a nice view of the river and the mountain. just a short walk to the bus stop so commute was easy.

United StatesThe place is showing its age, but it's kept quite clean
The food and the onsens were incredible. The dinner is usually a 7 course meal served over an hour and half so it's an entire experience. There is also an extensive list of alcohol options to purchase, and we sampled all the local sake options. P The room was big and it's great to have a private onsen in the room. The ensuite onsen was also a decent size, bigger than the standard bathtub. There are also three private onsens that you could use for most of the day. Because of the ensuite and private onsens, we didn't use the public one, but it did look quite nice. The hotel is conveniently located near the Jakotsuno bus stop, and one stop away from the Kowakidani train station. The hotel also has a on demand shuttle service that can take you to the train station. I also found a shortcut to the train station via a trail near the Jakotsuno bridge so you don't have to walk on the road shoulder.

Lovely room with space and river views. Private onsens free to use. Kaiseki dinners really excellent. Pyjamas. Free tea and coffee outside Onsens.

United Arab EmiratesThe onsen doesn't allow for you to pour on cold water or to regulate it, to me it was extremely hot, I could only stay for a few seconds at the time.
The hotel is located a short walk from the cable car/train, the bus stops a few meters from the hotel. The hotel is situated next to a river and you can walk/explore the grounds. The lobby is beautiful like traditional, the hotel offers a more local experience so the rooms have a traditional sitting area and the beds are low and comfortable, they provide traditional pajamas which most people wore for dinner. The room and bathroom are big. The dinner area is separated so you eat with your partner but don't get to see your neighbors. The meal was outstanding, I loved how they work with local farmers and use what is in season, so let me explain, you don't get a menu to choose from you get a menu of what the chef prepared for the dinner, so it's like a surprise dinner, you get about 8 courses and the presentation is fabulous. The portions are small but with so many, you end up full. For breakfast, is the same concept. I couldn't get a room with private onsen but the hotel has private onsen available for guests that you can use whenever you like it. The people at the front desk were very helpful and I would like to thank them for being so kind.

IsraelThe location was a bit into the woods- but it was a few sec’ walk from the bus stop and had a Lawson station 10 min’ down-hill. Dinner was a bit too early for our taste (18:30), and breakfast was super traditional which is not for everyone.
The privet onsen was amazing with a beautiful view from the window. The room was very privet and had everything we needed and more. The staff were wonderful and helpful. Overall the place felt luxurious and we enjoyed every minute of it :)

United StatesThe only thing we did not like was the bed. It was not as comfortable to sleep on for the price that we paid for the room. Perhaps a thicker and softer mattress/pad would be better.
The room was beautiful. The food was delicious and artistically displayed. The view from the onsen was amazing and the tub was nice. We just wished the water was warmer in the tub. We also appreciate the fact that the staff tried to provide us with yukata that fit our larger sizes. Unfortunately, only the top fit for my husband and I.

AustraliaBeautiful room & facilities. We booked a suite with a private onsen and it was magical! Our room overlooked a large stream and had fly-screens on the doors to the balcony, so we left the doors open and could hear the trickling stream throughout the entire suite. The private onsen was also semi-open air and the timber tub was very aromatic. The hotel also has both a public onsen (separated by gender) and 3 private onsens that you can use for 45mins at a time, so there's plenty of opportunity to onsen. The location was also convenient, with a bus stop right out the front of the property. The staff were also lovely and very helpful.
