The roads around the hotel have no foot paths so it can be dangerous walking to the 7 eleven. And the bus stop nearby is so easy to miss.

The bed mattress is hard and it aggravated my back pain every time I wake up in the morning.

No complaints. If I were to be critical, some areas are a little worn and could use a detailing/update to improve. But nothing that detracted from the stay as a whole.

Everything. It was a short walk downhill from the train station, and they had a shuttle bus to take us to the train station on check out. The hotel itself is not far from the bus route to the Hakone circuit. They stored our luggage and had it in our room ready when it was check in time. Staff are very friendly and their English was great! (Much better than our basic Japanese) The onsens were amazing, the room traditional and beautiful. The private onsen in the room is spacious and we enjoyed hearing the nearby river and waterfalls whilst relaxing in it! The food, traditional and delicious. Personally some of the flavours were not for me, but there was still plenty to eat that I did enjoy! When booking I thought it was on the expensive side, but it was so worth it!

A very nice traditional hotel in Hakone with private (onsen style) bathrooms in the spacious rooms and shared bathrooms on another floor. Extremely friendly and courteous staff!

The location is good but could be a little more convenient.

No breakfast and dinner at the site during our stay. A little inconvenient to get food if you don’t have a car. But there are buses ( 2minutes by foot) and trains (10 minutes by foot ) circulating very often. So it definitely is doable.

The onsen bath, though nice, was a bit run down, with floor boards broken. The view was ok, but I didnt like the other buildings on the hill overlooking the resort.

Everything was perfect.

We absolutely loved this hotel. It was even better than what we were expecting. Our room was big and included an entrance area with a mini-bar and amenities, a lounge room with tatami and a traditional Japanese seating area, a king-size bed, a spacious bathroom and a private onsen. We enjoyed every moment of our private onsen; despite the very hot July weather, it was still relaxing to bathe in hot water after a long day. The hotel also has family onsens available for hourly occupancy and a public onsen as well; on the same level, there is a relaxing lounge as well with a coffee and vending machine. The hotel is filled with beautiful art pieces and historical furniture. All amenities were provided in the room, including skin care products. Beware that reaching this facility by public transport is very difficult: it is situated on top of a steep road, and there are very few taxis available in Hakone (which need to be booked up to days in advance); additionally, there are no restaurants around. Free parking is available. We did not eat at the restaurant as we didn't book in advance but the service and menu looked wonderful. Wish we had stayed longer!!

The equipments are old but clean though.

In addition to the bath in the room, there are public and private bath. Staff are kind and most of them can communicate in English. Besides, I like the music and the meals offered by the hotel.
