Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomSet menu was wonderfully presented but due to being a fussy eater a choice of food would have been better for me. Breakfast was Japanese and again beautifully presented and tasted wonderful if you like fish etc but it is a set menu so be mindful if you're a fussy eater.
The view, location, private onsen, room onsen and courtesy of staff.

United KingdomAlthough our room was largely wonderful, our bed needed updating. Our suite was very much suited to a romantic break for a couple but our bed was two singles pushed together with separate duvets. That is quite traditional in Japan but even taking that into account, the mattresses themselves needed updating as they were old fashioned spring mattresses. Another small niggle is that I informed the hotel that my partner does not eat meat and I knew that they would not change the menu, but was surprised that they did not acknowledge this at at the start of the meal and at least ask if he would rather not have the meat put in front of him.
It is a beautiful hotel and we had a beautiful room with a private onsen tub. We had a suite that had a bedroom and separate lounge area with a huge day bed surrounded by woodland views. We also used one of the private onsen rooms available on a first come first serve basis and it was a great experience. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

AustraliaMake sure to close the window shutters in the onsen before its dark, otherwise your room will be filled with mosquitoes! There's no actual window there, just a window frame & shutters so be very careful! Location wise, it can be difficult getting to this hotel if you have a lot of heavy luggage since its located on a hill. They do provide a free shuttle service from Kowakudani Station, just make sure to contact the hotel prior to your arrival. You can also take the bus and get off at Jakotsuno bus stop, which is a very close walk but again, not suitable if you have lots of heavy/big luggage.
I stayed in the 'Suite with Semi Open-Air Cypress Bath or Cypress Bath or Granite Bath' for 2 nights! From the moment we arrived we were treated very well, we were escorted to the lounge area where the kind staff proceeded to complete the check-in process, all in English. Next he assisted us with our heavy luggage, and guided us to our suite. There are only 5 suites in total, all have a different layout & all are located on lvl 3, the same level as the restaurant. He then introduced different aspects of the suite to us as well as the facilities of the hotel in thorough detail. Service was exceptional and the best I have ever experienced. Reminded me of a butler! Breakfast & dinner are provided daily in the hotel. All you have to do is select a time, then ensure you are at the restaurant on time. You will then be seated in your own private area within the restaurant. The food & service style is different every meal. The first night for dinner we had a starter meal, then also had access to a buffet! We could also select a beverage from the menu complimentary, otherwise there were juices etc on the buffet. The second night was fine dining style and we were served around 5 different courses! If you want to experience traditional Japanese meals (Kaiseki), this is a wonderful place to experience & enjoy it! The suite itself is also wonderful, very spacious, and even has a lounge area with tatami mats and complimentary Japanese sweets that are replenished daily! Another lovely way to experience Japan's beautiful culture. The private onsen was amazing, it has natural water from the running stream below pumping into the onsen 24/7 & the view was also fantastic. Out of curiosity my mum & I also checked the Public & the public private onsens which were just as relaxing. On the same level there is a free hot beverage machine, vending machine, and a quiet lounge area overlooking the mountain to relax.

FinlandWe did not get a kaiseki dinner in our first night but a quite poorly executed western buffee. Probably there was an explanation for this but the language barrier was too high to deliver it to us.
Our room with own onsen was perfect for a honeymoon stay. The kaiseki dinner was good (in that night when we got it). We had a mountain view which was relaxing while sitting in onsen. The hotel is in good distance from Gora and the hotel has a shuttle service to the nearest railways station.

United KingdomIt was very hot at night. The air conditioning is located in the other room and couldn't reach the bedroom. Dinner and breakfast are included in the price. The meals are in Japanese traditional style. We had a hard time with fried fish and rice for breakfast and with some of the dishes that were served for dinner.
The private Onsen was amazing. Great view and speciousness. The room is very big, with a little living room The toilet and shower are separate, which I appreciated. The view from the room's window was breath-taking.

CanadaAlthough the location was alot of the charm it was a little hard to get to. You can arrange with the hotel for a shuttle to pick you up at the train station however we weren't exactly sure when we would arrive. And there wasn't a pay phone to call when we got there. It wasn't too far to walk however a little scary at times as the road was curvey and not much for sidewalk.
Breakfast and dinner were traditional Japanese which totally gave to the experience especially for the adventurous. So well presented.

Amazing spacious room with our own onsen and a great view of the mountains. There’s also public baths you can reserve and a sitting area with great views where you can enjoy your unlimited coffee/ tea drinks from a machine. Dinner and breakfast in our private dining room was one of the best meals we had in our entire trip! Basically a fine dining experience with multiple courses and amazing service. Loved the private onsen in the room. Large room compared to standard Japanese rooms. Private onsens downstairs were always available and great to use. We were running late from Osaka and the staff was accommodating and was able to sit us for dinner. Bus stop H stops right in front of the hotel.
