Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe hotel was surprisingly dirty, especially given the high expectation I had after staying at other hotels in Japan. The front desk staff tried to be helpful, but didn't feel very knowledgeable. We were a bit disappointed, as we booked this MIMARU after staying at a fantastic MIMARU hotel in Kyoto. This was a substantially less nice experience.
Convenient location not far from Tokyo station -- one can walk to the Imperial Palace.

AustraliaLocation was so-so. Very no-frills hotel.
Writing this review because Booking.com send me three emails asking me to lol. This hasn't happened before with any of my other stays. To be honest, this hotel was just "good". Not "great", just "good". Very serviceable and pleasant, nothing to rave about. Location is just okay, it is close to a subway station but most places you need to change lines. It's not actually that close to the main part of Tokyo Station. With a little one, and in order to avoid walking through multiple subway stations, we ended up taking a taxi often and so didn't really feel the location was that convenient. Compared to the other hotels I've stayed it, the staff seem very "strict" and warned us (very nicely) about fines for losing key cards (quite uncommon, at least it's never happened to me before) and lots of other rules and regulations. It seemed a little bit like a motel, but with slightly nicer facilities. But still quite no-frills. Everybody that stayed here seems to be a foreigner, never saw so many foreigners in one place except maybe Tsukiji Market lol. Only really exceptional experience I had here was a staff member who was here early on a Saturday (before the front desk offically opened) and ran out into the drizzling rain to help us hail a taxi. But it's not that common to find 2 bedrooms in Japan, and the price was very reasonable. There is a 7-11 downstairs. Overall was pleasant, but unlikely to stay again.

CanadaWe were used to the hotel experience in Japan, so in comparison, the lack of amenities and service at Mimaru seemed to have fall short considering they were double the price of hotels. There is slightly more space with the addition of kitchen and dining area, but the layout was so odd. The toilet was at the other end of the shower. There was also no soap in this toilet. The entire layout was just very awkward. When we asked if we could change rooms, they said they only have one other room and would have to charge us a cleaning fee.
Not much. We were used to the hotel experience in Japan, so in comparison, the lack of amenities and service at Mimaru seemed to have fall short considering they

SingaporeFor those deciding whether to stay, here are a few points to note 1. Apartments are basic. No side tables, beds are very firm, no room to store your clothing. You have to leave your clothes in the luggage 2. Apartment is not cleaned, you have to manage it like an airbnb. Someone comes in to change the towels - that’s it. Bedsheets are changed once 3. The walls are very thin, you can hear your neighbors talking loudly or kids playing. The corridors outside the main door are not heated , during winter it is cold 4. There are no TV channels, they have Netflix but you need your account and the annoying thing is that it gets resettled every time you leave the room. There are few multi bedroom apartments in Tokyo. Hence you have to decide if it’s better to pay for 2 adjoining rooms or get an apartment. The advantage is a dining area but then, you have only one toilet 5. Oh yes, if you get the apartment for 6. All have to fight to use the only toilet in the apartment!
superb and helpful staff! A+

United KingdomThe staff can be more helpful, and there is no staff before 7:00 am. The location is far away from Tokyo Station. The air conditioner is not working properly. They only change bed sheets on the 4th and 7th day of your stay, and the cleanliness level is not too high.
The room is relatively big and has a lot of storage.

SingaporeIt will be good to have black oyt shades in rooms as blind is unable to block the bright sunrise early around 4am plus. Noise from road can be heard from room. If handsoap is provided at kitchen sink will be great. Although there is a washer/dryer in room, we only use the wash option. As drying takes up to 3hrs. We used the dryer on Level 3 instead and is not expensive for 20mins. Maybe cleaning in common area can be improved. Layers of dust can be seen on room door handle and in lift walls. Overall still a comfy stay.
Convient location with 2 subways. Many restaurants around.

SingaporeIt was raining very heavily on the last day of our stay here and when we asked the front desk for an umbrella we could borrow, a male staff with red hair just told us that the umbrellas were in our room but we had already checked out. He said there are no umbrellas at the front desk. We had already booked a taxi through the hotel and were going to come back for our luggages a few hours later. After coming back to the hotel, we collected our luggage and got ready to leave. A female staff from the front desk then voluntarily took out an umbrella for us. That meant there were umbrellas available but the male staff did not want to lend to us. There is also no drop off point at this hotel so we were all drenched from loading the luggage into the car.

AustraliaThe pillows weren’t super comfy and there was no hand soap at the toilet sink. The toilet paper is cheap and rough (lol but it really is). The elevators will ALWAYS stop on level 2 which is just a pain when you want to get to your room but you gotta stop at level 2 first. Pricey but I guess it was a peak period.
The location! It’s close to Hatchobori station which is on the Hibiya line. This is great because it gets you to so many great locations without needing to change trains such as Naga Meguro, Ginza, Disney and, Tsukiji. It’s also close to Kayobacho Station for additional options. The Chuo district itself is a bit of a business one so you’ll need to travel elsewhere for nightlife but it’s all really accessible. Handy with many convenience stores including one downstairs in the building!
