Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThere were a few small things. For example, there was mildew on the ceiling of the shower room and the toilet wasn't really cleaned as much as it could be. Nothing was terrible or completely off-putting, however.
My stay was pleasant enough. The owner is a nice man, there's a pretty garden on the property, it's in a quiet location and the property has a lot of character. It is an older Japanese house. If you're into that, it's a good place to stay. If you prefer Western-style business hotels, this might be a challenge. There is a kitchen which is adequate for basic cooking. There are two toilets -- one Western, one squat. Although a bit away from the centre of Nagasaki, three tram stops from Nagasaki, it's not a difficult walk to the major sites. There is a free washing machine on the property. For the price, it's a good value. There are some shortcomings that come with the property's age, but the price makes up for that.

CanadaI liked that it was only 80 CAD for a 2 night stay. The shower worked great, the room was small but everything I needed, water runs great and adjusts temperature quickly, host left ample instructions on how to check in. The downsides are the location: it was way up in the hills, a good 20 minute walk from the central station and the information if not entered in Japanese will lead you to the wrong location. The bed wasn’t very supportive but I think that’s because I’m much bigger than the average guest being over six feet tall and 180 lbs.

JapanThe ceiling of the bathroom looked a little not clean, also the room has some of black dirt in the corners and there was a living small bug on my futon, but I managed to get rid of it 😂 The guest house is located in a hill, there are too many stairs to climb to reach there, so people with suitcases will definitely have a hard time to get there.
The owner was so kind in showing me around and explaining to me about everything. The bed didn't look comfortable first, but I actually had a good night sleep. There is a table and chair and hangers and enough space to put your luggage inside the room. There's also a kitchen with hot water and tea bags offered for the guests.

CanadaLocation was tucked away, up several sets of stairs (unrelated to review: Google maps sent us up a wrong set of stairs and a nice couple had to help direct us back down). Not a lot of nearby food places without walking for a bit.
Very good price to the room. Owner was very friendly and accommodating. There was a shared kitchen and washer available on site. And the on-site garden was gorgeous.

JapanThis was my first visit to Nagasaki, so part of my review carries the bias of not knowing fully what to expect, as a disclaimer. I didn't realize how far of a walk this inn was from some of the sites I wanted to see. Though the street car stop 10-15 minutes away near the Suwa Shrine helped elevate that, the walk to it is up/downhill from the hotel. For some reason I thought it was going to be like a western hotel based on the description of a double bed room, but it wasn't, in that there was a shared bathroom and shower room. Admittedly, this is something I personally need to get more used to as a foreigner traveling around Asia, but I think it may be helpful to let others know if they are like me and also don't know what to expect. It was also pretty cold initially, as the window in the room had been open, but I was able to heat the space up to be more comfortable with the heater. I'm not sure why, but it seems windows and screens in the hall were also left open, which made it cold on the way to the bathroom. I think those are my only cons, and most are my own lack of perception: distance, the walk up and down the hill from the streetcar spot, and the chilliness.
I liked the atmosphere of the place. It was quiet, and the (western) bed was comfortable with good, heavy blankets. The pillows felt like they were stuffed with hard beads, but I slept fine with them. The kitchen had plenty of dishware and amenities to use, including a microwave, tea kettle, hot water machine, stove, refrigerator, TV, etc., and was spacious with a table and then a smaller round table nearby. It reminded me of my grandfather's house back in the states. There's also a lot of racks outside for doing laundry, and part of the pleasure of waking up further from all the attractions was the calm scene of weak early sunlight frosting the plants outside in the morning.

AustraliaIt seemed unnecessarily shabby. A little work and expense would make a huge difference. However, it was clean.
The annual Kunchi Festival was just up the road at Suwa Jinja, so our location was great. For other Nagasaki attractions it’s a tram or bus ride and more steps than some would like.

AustraliaThe property is tired. While the room was clean and comfortable and the amenities mostly worked, it was clear that it has been a long time since significant maintenance has been performed at the property.
The owner was very friendly and accommodating. He allowed us to store our luggage at the accommodation while we spent a night away. There was a kitchen that we were able to make use of and a washing machine which allowed us to catch up with clothes washing.
