Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaVery firm beds, the walk back up the hill. Tiny bathrooms.
Excellent staff, use of lounge and dining areas, private shuttle bus to town and some ski resorts. Breakfast included and very tasty - options changed each day.

United StatesLocation is walking distance to the center of town but not close enough if you carry your ski gear but not far enough to wait on the bus, plus it up hill. The walls were not sound proof, you can hear every move from other rooms but the loudest was the plumbing when water runs through it.
The place was, well equipped, with ample communal space, hangout couch, fire place, the breakfast was ok but generous, free shuttle was a nice touch. Staff were all nice, welcoming and English speaking.

Mojo Lodge had a very relaxed vibe and was close enough to everything that you could walk wherever you needed to go if needed.

JapanI thought the general upkeep and cleanliness of the place could have been better, especially the entrance where there was just a mess of shoes and slippers all over the place. The dry room was in a similar condition.
The staff was very friendly and easygoing from the very beginning. And the location is great - central to most of the mountains, hot springs and restaurants.

New ZealandOne thing to note is that Mojo Lodge is slightly tricky to find, even with the aid of Google Maps. We had a hilarious trip with a local taxi driver trying to locate it, but we got there eventually after a few turns up the wrong dirt roads. For reference, Mojo Lodge is directly behind Sekkasai Lodge, which is easy to see from the road. Another thing to be aware of is that much of Hakuba is closed down in autumn, so the selection of restaurants is pretty slim. But the Lawson is always open for supplies, and the gondolas and chair lifts run, so you can access the surrounding ridges for breathtaking views. Well worth it.
We really enjoyed our autumn stay at Mojo Condo, which is a self-contained part of Mojo Lodge. We hadn't realised that the rest of the lodge would be closed during 'Green season', so it was slightly disconcerting to find everything so quiet when we arrived. But the quiet turned out to be a positive as it meant our stay turned into a lovely meditative mountain retreat. Just us, the local monkey tribe (cute babies) and the bears (which we only encountered as fresh paw prints on the gravel road). Once we'd made ourselves at home, Mojo staff came to find us to make sure that we had everything we needed, including shuttles to get groceries etc. And when I got sick, they helped out with info about English-speaking pharmacists and doctors. I really appreciated that. The condo itself was great, with all the amenities we needed, including coffee and tea and water. Very comfortable beds, plush linen, and a great shower. The surrounding forest is truly beautiful, and we loved gazing at the yellows and reds of the autumn trees from our bed. Hakuba in autumn is so worth a visit.

VietnamThe room was much smaller than what I expected. Basically just enough to fit the bed in. There's no AC either, just the fan. But considering the price is lower than the average in that area, I think it's fair.
The staff were super friendly and helpful! There's fresh baked goods and bacon for breakfast! And plenty of fun stuff like board games to do in the evening or rainy days.

AustraliaNot much you can change as the rooms are already build but they are very tight. If you are looking at spending time in your room only this would not be the place to stay, however they have a very nice downstairs area.
Everything was what I expected. You get what you pay for it is very good value for money the ensuite rooms are tight but like I said it is not a 5 star hotel and meet our expectations. Will happily stay there again.

PhilippinesThe lodge seemed short-staffed at times because there were occasions that there was no one at the reception for a few hours during the day. Other than this, we had a pleasant experience.
We are a family of 4. We were given 2 adjoining rooms with a private bathroom, which were suitable for our stay. Breakfast and location were very good. Nothing fancy but the breakfast served each day was different and very tasty. Location is also very near the happo bus terminal and happo ski resort.

New ZealandNot alot really.... was looking forward to sitting around the fire, but it wasnt lit whilst we were there.
Location in Wadano was so lovely in the forest with the snow. Peaceful and quite, but easy 10 minute walk to Happo One Village. Great value for money, breakfast was great considering the low price, staff were friendly, informative and helpful. Small rooms but absolutely to be expected, as per booking.com website. Would definitely stay there again.

AustraliaThe beds were quite hard and the pillows were not very full / comfortable.
The staff were fantastic! Extremely helpful and friendly. Every morning breakfast was served within 5 minutes of arriving in the dining room. They drove us to the snow resort every morning and dropped us off at dinner in the evening. It truly felt like a home away from home at the Mojo Lodge which was perfect for our Christmas stay.

GermanyWe expected it to be a little prettier on the outside, because the photos online were taken a few years ago. There was skuffolding laying around and stuff like that, could have been cleaned up easily before the season starts. Maybe the owner could invest some money to get rid of the ripped couches and make this lodge as pretty as it probably was 5-6 years ago when the Photos were taken…. Our double room was really really small (8-10m2), it was hard to lay out our luaggage and open it to unpack. There is a very small amount of space for your clothing.
All I. All it is worth the money, at least because of the location. It is just five minutes to Hakuba village and they have a lot of places to go to. They offer a Gondola shuttle wich comes in very handy! The concept of this lodge type accommodation was new to us. We had a double room with a private bathroom. It was much smaller than we estimated it to be, but comfortable mattress and very nice sheets and blanket. The bathroom was as small as a camper van, but we experienced this at other hotels in Japan too. Sometimes it was cold in the bathroom, because there was no heater. We want to point out, that we are really thankful that the stuff was so friendly and always willing to help! We hope Noah gets better soon. He’s a very good chef! Thanks to the manger who was taking us to the gondola in the morning and in the evening.
