Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaIf you’re looking for a traditional Ryokan stay this is the place! Family run and a hidden gem amongst all the Ryokan in Kinosaki. Great food and an incredible private onsen.

CanadaNot really the fault of the establishment but if I returned I would get the dinner for only one night and eat out our second night.
Great location in the centre of town. Hachi-San the owner offers exceptional warmth and service.

CanadaAll perfect
Very large room with windows that opened onto greenery. Nice private hot spring. We received the walking yukatas every inn in Kinosaki provides, but also a fancy kimono for me to wear to dinner. Wonderful host, Hachi, took us to the train station very early in the morning, stopping to take photos in iconic locations en route. Kinosaki is a lovely small town. The onsen baths are a super experience. On our second day we took the train to takone, the next town, one station away. It has a beautiful beach. We had the huge fancy dinner and Japanese breakfast one day, but went out to a restaurant the second day.

AustraliaThere was a strange smell in my room, possibly a previous guest had spilled something. Hopefully this was just a temporary issue and only in one room, the rest of the hotel didn't smell at all.
Very friendly staff, excellent facilities and meals. Female guests get to choose from a huge variety of colourful yukata and the staff will help you to wear it correctly. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. The private bath looked great although I didn't use it (spent more time in the public bathhouses instead)

SpainNothing, everything was perfect!
The location is excellent, close to all the baths in the village. The staff is wonderful, very friendly and helpful, they welcome you with great attention. The place is very beautiful and authentic, with a very Japanese style. The stay includes free entry to all the thermal baths in the city. And the place has its own thermal bath. I highly recommend it!

AustraliaThere was nothing bad about Morizuya
We loved everything about Morizuya. As soon as we stepped off the train we were greeted with a bus to our accomodation. We then had a tea ceremony and got to choose a Yukata to wear for our stay. Marizuya had their own hot baths which were fantastic to use and we got a pass for the onsens in town. Overall this was a highlight for our Japan trip and a must stay Ryoken for anyone visiting. Thankyou for making our stay very memorable.

AustriaThe layout of the house is a bit confusing as well all the light switches 😅and I didn‘t find the Wifi password but that could be because I was exhausted.
Super clean, friendly staff, nice big room and close to the train station and to all the onsens. Even brought my luggage to the train station for me even though it was just a 8 min walk and I said I could without any fee. Breakfast was delicious.

BelgiumThere are two private onsens, unfortunately we were not able to enjoy them for long as they were occupied for a long time. It would be better if they were open a bit longer .
Great staff, we enjoyed the tea ceremony upon arrival. They dressed us in our kimono and the onsen were great . Overall Great experience

AustraliaThis is a family owned ryokan spanning 5 generations centrally located in town and walking distance to all the bath houses. The owner is a lovely host who is not only super friendly, but kindly took many photos of us. We had a guest room overlooking the Main Street and it was perfect. Meals were provided in the main dining area (we really enjoyed both dinner and breakfast kaiseki) and whilst there was limited English by the other staff members, it was special and provided an authentic experience with the welcoming tea ceremony, choice of yukata for the females.

CanadaMy room was near the dining area and had a bit of a lingering odour from the food. Not too bad but if you are sensitive to smells this might be an issue. The other rooms may not have this issue.
Amazing friendly staff, most speak very good English as well. Beautiful and large room. The owner is incredibly friendly and helpful. The dinner and breakfast were an amazing variety of fresh foods.
