Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsCommon room was in front of the bedrooms. It didn't bother me, but you have to be a little quiet. No windows in the room, so a bit smelly
Very kind staff. Tea available. Very clean. View of Mt Fuji from your breakfast table.

GermanyOnly thing that would be negative is that my wifes hairblower didnt work in the blower. Maybe it was about the voltage difference.
What my wife and i liked about the Hostel, was, that its close to a train station (5 min walk), lots of small restaurant, cafes and small shops (like for tea or for clothing) are nearby, even a 7/11 is very close (also around 5 min walk) Our stay in the Hostel was very cozy, we had booked a room with tatami mats and futon bed for ourselves. It was very spacious as we were able to also leave our big luggage (2 suitcases each 20kg) in our room. The Owner of the Hostel has a big knowledge about the area, such as where to go, what to do, and many other recomendations. We will definetly come back

JapanA very comfortable hostel in a great, central location - a one-minute walk from the iconic Fuji-san street view. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They asked every day if everything was OK and if I had any questions. The bunk bed was the best I've ever had in Japan - strong curtains that went all the way round, and had press studs to close the curtains. The kitchen and showers were well equipped. Free tea and coffee. Lots of information about what to do and transport links.

BrazilI thought I had booked for a price but in the end, it was different. Of course I should've checked earlier, but still a bit disappointing.
I loved the environment, there were even some games available. Great bathroom area and good washing machines, and even free coffee and tea. There is a view for mount Fuji, though a bit covered by other buildings, is excellent and made me happy when I opened the curtains in the morning.

United StatesI would advise bringing noise canceling headphones and/or earplugs since the common areas are very close to the beds, and some people like to stay up and chat.
Comfortable beds and clean facilities. Every bed has good privacy curtains. For the price and location, it's a great place to stay in Fujiyoshida.

It is near to mount Fuji lookout points via 10-15min driving distance and the staff is very helpful. Towels, toothbrush kit provided. Bunk bed comfortable, blanket kept us warm in colder autumn winter temp. Cosy place for backpackers and easy to drive here.

United StatesThe dorms are pretty tight, but with the curtains it wasn’t so bad. Also some construction and cleaning in the morning (around 8) was slightly annoying when I tried to sleep in. But not really that much of a problem.
Good location and good price! Staff were nice and it was a very clean and comfortable spot. Would absolutely recommend.

LithuaniaIt's more related to the room I stayed in - I booked a private tatami room. There were no windows in my room, so I felt like being in a box and constantly had to have lights on even during the day. Secondly, maybe it is supposed to be this way but the room was a bit smelly, like a smell of sawdust, so I found it a bit unpleasant. Lastly, no sound isolation from the corridor. Since this is a hostel, many guests like to talk to each other, and sometimes up to quite a late night. I understand it, but it was just bad timing for me when I was sick and tired, and wanted to get some sleep (it was after 10 pm), but since quiet hours were only from 12 AM, some other guests just kept chatting in the hall and I could hear everything in my room even with earplugs (though they didn't speak loud, just in normal voice). So I feel like if this hostel would manage somehow to get a separate socialising room, this wouldn't be an issue anymore :)))
The location was nice - just a few stops by local train from Kawaguchiko Station, however, you could walk around Shimoyoshida (a very nice and quiet town area), and also it was a pretty easy and short walk to Chureito Pagoda (around 20 min on foot). Also, the staff was really helpful and kind, spoke perfect English so I had no issue with communication. They also had lots of leaflets about what to see and how to navigate around Kawaguchiko which was really nice and didn't really have to go to the Tourist Centre.

IsraelThe room is very small, there is hardly any room to move, the mattress was comfortable but the bunk bed above creaked with every movement, which made it difficult to sleep. It's a 12 minute walk from the main bus station.
This is probably the cheapest hostel in fujiyoshida. The room for a couple is a small room with a bunk bed and shared toilets. The hostel is clean and have a microwave and refrigerator. it's a 6 minutes walk from the train station that takes you to the Fuji-Q Highland park. 5 minutes walk to a 7/11.
