Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThe property was fantastic, one of the best accommodations we have stayed at. The natural aroma of the wood as soon as you enter is instantly soothing, and the private sauna, rain shower and bathtub make for the most relaxing experience with the property being the perfect pit stop in the middle of your trip to unwind. The tatami area upstairs is also great to relax in as it has a view of Mt. Fuji, a balcony and a vinyl player amongst other activities such as board games and reading materials. The complimentary drinks and snacks were delicious and the breakfast every morning was well thought out and presented beautifully with each item being explained to us. I loved the skincare products provided in the bathroom! There was also a gallery/ art exhibition on during our stay which was a nice little addition. Despite having a language barrier (we did not speak any Japanese), we found the whole experience to be seamless from start to finish. The staff were incredibly helpful and arguably took the whole experience to another level! Being anxious about the frequency of local trains, we were able to contact the property prior to our stay to arrange to be picked up from the Shin-Fuji station. After picking us up, Gotou was kind enough to take us sightseeing to some of the local spots (and each one had the most beautiful view of Mt. Fuji which is massive and majestic in person!). Ogushi also looked after everything we needed and answered all our questions - even helping us with maps and recommendations of activities and offering to take us places if we needed! I am a vegetarian and in noting this, Ogushi had already printed out menus (highlighting the vegetarian options) and contacted local restaurants that offer vegetarian options. We got takeaway on the first night and like any other hotel we expected to grab the bag and go inside the room but Ogushi (being the wonderful host she is) had set everything up beautifully on the lounge table for us to enjoy.

Everthing!!! The architecture, wood furniture, decoration, services are all top notch. The building has natural wood scent which is cery soothing. The location is a few steps from Mt Fuji World Heritage Center. There are plenty of parking space in the front. The staff are very helpful. Ogushi-san helped me book the restaurant for dinner and even walk with me to the restaurant. When I do some work in the lounge at night. She prepared me some hot tea and snack. And they have the self service open bar. Guests can have all the alcohol drinks such as sake, plum wine or whisky by themselves. If I travel to Japan again, I might even plan another stop in Fuinomiya just to stay at this hotel.

Wow what a stay! The property is amazing. The facilities were great, we very much enjoyed the bath tub and sauna. It was so clean and spacious, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The room had everything you needed and more! I particularly enjoyed the skincare that was provided! The room was stocked with drinks and the bar was great. Ogushi was a fantastic host, simply wonderful. She made suggestions and reservations for amazing restaurants, the best food we’ve had for our whole stay.

This hotel is very unique and it was the highlight of our visit to Japan. From the moment we arrived we were fully looked after in every respect. After visiting Osaka and Kyoto we stayed here. It was the perfect mid point of the holiday and provided the 'Real Japanese Experience' that we were looking for. If you are interested in design, architecture, interior design, modern design, Japanese culture, peace and tranquility then this will not disappoint! The introduction to the room and facilities was very comprehensive. As this is a boutique hotel the owners and staff like to take their time to explain. This helps and assists with everything and this is all part of the experience. We were 2 adults and 2 young children ages 3 and 10mo. We had the best time!

ThailandMy first impression of the hotel was overwhelmingly positive, largely due to its excellent location. It is conveniently situated near two significant city landmarks: the Mt. Fuji World Heritage Center and Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha. The hotel is also less than a 10-minute walk from the nearest station. The architecture of the hotel was not only stunning but also harmoniously integrated with the nearby museum, creating a cohesive and inviting atmosphere, surrounded by picturesque woods. The rooms and the building looked exactly like the pictures online, which was very impressive. I must highlight the exceptional service, which was the best I have ever experienced. Despite the small size of the city and the complexities of local transportation, the hotel staff went above and beyond to assist us. They helped us arrange taxi tours for the afternoon and paid meticulous attention to our needs as we were the only guests for the day. This included managing food allergies with a customized menu that was thoughtfully prepared. The hotel offered complimentary drinks and snacks, including a wide variety of famous teas and local delicacies, all at no extra charge. The in-room water machine provided unlimited hot and cold water, and options for tea, juices, and even alcoholic beverages were readily available. The delicious and fresh breakfast, prepared from local ingredients, was outstanding. The selection of amenities was excellent and well-suited to the natural surroundings. Unlike other hotels that use aromatic sticks to enhance the atmosphere, this hotel benefitted from the natural aroma of the surrounding woods, which was truly delightful. The furniture, crafted from local wood with unique and authentic designs, added to the charm of the setting. The cleanliness of the hotel was impeccable. The spacious bathroom, equipped with a private sauna, boasted a design that captured the essence of a ryokan, offering privacy and luxury.
