Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

TaiwanThe property is built on hills, so there are some slopes in the hallway. When I wanted to buy a milk tea from the vending machine it was sold out.
First of all, the room is really good, like no joke. The bamboo outdoor bathtub is amazing, I was so excited when I saw it! The photo does not show how good it is, highly recommended to check it out in person. The moment you walk in the hotel, it feels like you're back home to relieve all your tension, the traditional layout of the room makes me feel super comfy. Every corner is clean, they do care about the details. They make your bed when you're eating dinner or walking around in Arimaonsen areas. Smooth transition into sleeping mode. The TV has smart features so you can watch YouTube or connect your device to play something. The public onsen is great, definitely worth trying it out at night. It wasn't really crowded and the environment is better than the ones on the street.

CanadaEnjoyed our stay. They speak great English. The food was excellent and they went out of their way to accommodate my complicated food allergies. Highly recommended ! The public baths were more on the mid range, less fancy than some I have seen but overall excellent experience for our family of 3.

BelarusIt would be better if transfer was arranged from Kobe station at least. Very pricey dinner, old facilities in the room and private onsen that we paid for.
Great staff, location, transfer available, breakfast and dinner arrangement ( I didn’t like all the food in the dinner and breakfast, because it is unusual to it though). Spacious room.

Soaking in the mineral water baths, wearing the traditional outfits provided by the hotel, and of course the best breakfast I may have ever eaten. gpGoing to breakfast in our traditional outfits was especially fun.

United StatesI cannot think of anything really
We loved this little onsen hotel. Its an older more traditional hotel but we loved all of the amenities . We felt like we were in the forest with all of the trees around us . The staff went above and beyond in so many ways---driving us to a little restaurant, calling the restaurant in advance to make sure they could accommodate us, and picking us up from the train. The staff is exceptional. The traditional breakfast was wonderful too. They have a lovely meeting room in the hotel (I cant recall the name of it ) that you can go and get a coffee and tea and read, and it has nice music --we found it very relaxing and beautifully appointed. The mid century decor was lovely. Arima is a sweet onsen town that I can tell lot of locals really enjoy--we loved our one night stay here--it was just what we needed at this stage of our trip.

Really helpful hotel staffs! My husband lost his bag pack in the metro and we both couldn’t speak Japanese. We asked help from the hotel staff and they went lengths to help us find our bags. Really thoughtful of them! Also, room is very spacious for a couple. We went during early winter, so it was extra comfortable to soak in the outdoor onsen. (It was so beautiful! And so comfortable after a hot soak!) You have to pay a small fee for private onsen. But the public ones are nicer in my opinion.

BrazilSpacious room with a nice view, great in-house onsens alternating between male and female use at different times of the day, and a cozy coffee room offering complimentary coffee and tea. The staff was very kind and included members with a good command of English. Convenient location, close to the train station and the town's main attractions.

SingaporeThe ginsen and yinsen were only available outdoors and indoor baths were only hot water. The town itself had nothing much so wouldn’t recommend to stay more than 1 day.
Staff were kind and friendly, they remember that it was our honeymoon and surprised us with sekihan during dinner! Location was close to the town centre as well. And the baths were clean and good! WiFi was strong and we could stream Netflix and Disney+.

United KingdomThe hotel will collect you from the train station. We decided to walk up and it is a strange little road - quite and felt very safe but not very picturesque.
Loved the private and the public baths. Breakfast was amazing. The staff were so lovely and helpful. So pleased we stayed here.

United StatesThe bathroom could be a little more clean and an addition of microwave would make it so much easier to warm food and baby bottles. If you are not eating at the retiring finding food outside can be a little tricky,
The staff here is amazing. They were very quick to communicate via WhatsApp, we had trouble finding the right transit options and they stayed with us on WhatsApp very actively to guide us through the directions. The room was spacious and very comfortable; we stayed in Japanese style room, I requested a separate mattress for my baby which was extra surcharge but they did great at accommodating all my requests: The onsen is very clean and relaxing. They provide with pajamas; indoor and outdoor slippers; they even provided us with a small toddler size pajamas and toothbrush which was very cute! They provide a shuttle to and from the arima onsen station, they were also able to accommodate any urgent requests such as pharmacy and medicine needs. We forgot our wedding rings at the room and as soon as we reached out to the hotel the next day after check out, the lady Izumi was quick to inform that they have kept the rings safely, they communicated very efficiently with out next hotel management and arranged for a delivery. We received our rings the next day: this was amazing and very efficient,
