The hotel in the listing picture is not the property we stayed at, which was confusing at check-in. The hotel is older but in good repair.

The location was about half a mile from the castle. Location was good and the included breakfast was good.

The bed was a little hard.

We stayed one night, which was fine. It was a small space, with not much room to spread out. The internet was fast and reliable, though. One thing we really appreciated was that we were able to drop off our backpacks at the front desk before check in time.

The strong sewage smell in the toilet. The coin laundry machines are dirty. Overall old facilities but I guess it is expected for the price paid.

Walking distance to the bus terminal and the shopping mall, location is good. Room is big enough to open 2 luggage.

Location is the best. So close to Sakura machi department store and bus stop. And near Kumamoto castle. Breakfast is good.

The room and the building felt a little bit old, but if you are using the hotel as a place to sleep and not as a place to stay inside the whole day, then there are no problems.

The location was very close to the castle and the city centre. The area was quiet during the night. For people to drive, the attached parking garage was nice and close and reasonably priced, with a discount from the hotel for using it.

This hotel is super super retro. Everything looks very old. The bedroom is small, and it's still using the old spring mattress which causes sound when you turn your body. The pillow is also very hard. So I had two sleepless nights there. The price was on a higher side, compared to other "retro" hotels. The big issue was the air-con. It kept switching on and off automatically, so it's really annoying. The bathroom is a bit damp and mouldy. The equipment is rusty as well.

The location is great, just opposite the Sakura Machi shopping mall and a terminal bus. It's also a walking distance to the Shinshigai shopping arcade. You can access this hotel by taking the A-Line tram from Kumamoto station or the B-Line tram from Kami-Kumamoto station. The staff was very friendly and helpful. When I complained about the air-con problem, they offered me to switch to another room, which was slightly bigger than the previous one. The check-in and check-out process were both smooth.

Bathroom was a bit old Water pressure was too weak. Have to spend time waiting for the water Staff could not speak English. Not easy to communicate, but they were nice anyway

Just 5 tram stops from JR station, and then a short walk to the hotel Room was not too small than I thought There was a long table to put my personal stuff Sakura Machi bus terminal is just 5 min walk, where buses to Takachiho and many other places are available Kumamoto castle is a 20 min walk A big shopping mall and supermarket nearby Good sound proof as there was a festival parade early in the Sunday morning

Bathroom isn't clean, and has mold in the shower. Front staffs changed room for me (thank you) but that also has mold in the bathroom. I don't mind if property is old with wear & tear, but it must be hygienicly clean.
