AustraliaAlthough the minimalist design was attractive, more cupboard and shelf / ledge space is desirable, especially if staying for multiple nights. Only one small pillow was provided per guest.
It was tastefully modern, with a good bathroom. The owner/manager was very pleasant and accommodating. It was in a great location, just across from a geisha district and small samurai museum, as well as within walking distance of many other attractions, such as the castle and Gardens. Guests should opt for breakfast- both the food and cook were delightful.

CanadaWe had a long stay here during our visit to Kanazawa. We really enjoyed staying at the hotel - the owner speaks very good English and provided helpful tourist maps for the major attractions in the area. Kanazawa is very walkable, and even the most distant attractions like Higashi Chaya are about 30 minutes on foot, with convenient bus stops close to the hotel. Kenroku-en and many of the museums are about 20 minutes. There are plenty of restaurants nearby - a handful very close in Nishi Chaya, and very many just across the river in Katamachi. The room was very clean, with a very nice shower and bath. Good-quality toiletries were provided. The beds were particularly comfortable and electric blankets were available once the weather got colder.
