Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MalaysiaStairs are narrow, so be extra careful when taking your luggage upstairs. Else, you can put your luggage downstairs without the need to carry heavy items. Also, sometimes there might be people who don't care about others & makes noice at the kitchen. The location is also quite far from the subway if you don't like to walk far.
The cubicle is spacious! Mattress is thick & comfy. Staff also caring for your needs and always ready to help you. The "ninja walk" when going upstairs is always fun & challenging for me, since I'm a big guy and need to tip-toe to reduce the creak noise 😀

United StatesDid not like how cold it got after taking a shower. A simple space heater would help a lot.
Great staff, very helpful and welcoming. Bed was comfy and spacious and there was plenty of privacy with the curtains. Good location in Asakusa. Nearby market and the Skytree is not too far. Good food options within a 15-minute walk. about a 10 min walk to Asakusa station.

CanadaSlightly far from the West Side of Tokyo - about 40 minutes on the train to Shibuya. Metro expenses add up! In the end, the price and comfort of the hostel make it worth while.
Very easy for solo-travellers to feel welcome and meet fellow travellers. Very nice balance between seeking privacy and social connection. Provided a very calm and safe home base within Tokyo. Laundry and convenience store nearby make the space very accessible! Capsule bunks are very spacious, allowing you to store small-medium sized luggage with you and change clothes.

Turkeynothing.
this is a heavenly place if you like to socialize but avoid crowds because it's a little hostel not like common capsule hotels in japan that you'd stay with hundreds of people but see no one's face. people i've met there became friends that i'll be keeping in touch even after japan. it has a little kitchen which has very good supplies in it to cook and there you make yourself nice homemade feely food which is very important if you are on a long trip and got tired from fast food and etc. and also there you have very nice conversations with people who are from all around the world. :) it is a bit far from subway 10 mins walk but area is so nice and calm and local you never feel unsafe which is important for a solo traveler. i'll come back again if i come to tokyo ever again. one of the nicest hostels i've stayed in more than 20 countries. and the staff, two guys and a lady who are kind, fun and cute and helpful all the time is a big bonus because in some other places sometimes you don't even have someone to talk if a problem comes up but here they are ready to help always.

United StatesIt is a traditional Japanese building, the staircase to the second floor is quite steep and you need to take care in using it. The 2nd floor floorboards creaked a little so be careful walking around at quiet hours. The staff did warn me about this so I knew to expect it.
Staff were friendly, everything was clean. No issue with showers or any of the facilities. I got a room on the 2nd floor in a mixed room and it was a great value for my money. The area itself is quiet and very residential, but within walking distance to Kuramae and Asakusa stations.

SpainThe house has an old smell, so I had to wash my clothing quite frequently. 🙉 also gets stuffy very fast of not aired out regularly. But I still loved my stay there.
Stayed there for a couple of weeks. Very social atmosphere. A lot of space im the bed bunk cubicle. It’s in an old Japanese house, so it feels homey. Supermarket over the corner.

PortugalI just found a little bit inconvenient that we need to walk through the kitchen to get to the shower.
I loved the vibe of this hostel, it felt like a traditional Japanese house. The capsule bed was really comfortable and spacious, it almost felt like a tiny private room. There is also a kitchen space where you can cook and store your food. Convenience store just around the corner and a short walk from metro station.
