Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsWhen I checked out there was nobody there, that felt a bit sad.
I loved the sleeping cubicles, cozy, private enough and comfortable. The hospitable staff was also wonderful.

United KingdomEverything was good.
Spacious tatami room in a modern guesthouse in Hirosaki. There are restaurants, cafes and sights within 5 to 20 minutes' walk, with Hirosaki Station about 20 minutes' walk (or shorter by bus). The first floor area is a cafe during the day and common area during the evening.

JapanIf I had to nitpick - towels for showering cost extra (I think it was less than 500yen) which was a bit annoying, but no biggie.
All was great.

FranceThere's a sink in the female dorm, and some guests were using it very late or very early, which made annoying noise when they could have used the general ones outside the dorm.
Loved the decor and the vibe of the place, good location, walkable distance from the station and the main attraction of the city, it was comfortable and clean.

SwitzerlandNoise, light
Overall it was good, as for a capsule hostel. Just bear in mind that the “capsules” are in the open space so it’s really loud. There are earplugs in the bathroom one can take but I didn’t find them efficient. Also, since the capsules are made out of irregular wooden boxes, one can see the light coming through which I found annoying while sleeping

ItalyThe only women area doesn’t have a wash basin. The lights and other switches needs to be in the middle or at the entrance of the dorm/capsule. Need more comfortable chairs or sitting in the common area near the kitchen on first floor.
It’s near the castle and other happening places and chomes in the town. They were also very helping with my heavy luggage and kept it.

AustraliaTravelled to Hirosaki to attend the cherry blossom festival. Loved the location of Orendo hostel and the proximity to Hirosaki park which was about a 10min walk, the train station was about 20mins walk in the other direction, a convenience store was 5mins away . The staff were young. friendly and enthusiastic. We stayed in the twin room on tatami matting and it was very spacious. The dormitory style accommodation looked very quirky as it was made out of many apple boxes joined together. The shared kitchenette was tiny, however it had a fridge for putting food in and a marker pen to label it. Lovely place to stay.

United KingdomIt’s a hostel, so will not be as private as a hotel room.
The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, the location was a short walk from Hirosaki Park (took amazing cherry blossom photos), the room was in traditional japanese style allowing a very authentic experience and for a hostel, it was very comfortable.

AustraliaOnly 1 male bathroom was available at any given time. Would be great if there were more available, considering the mixed-gender dorm could accommodate over a dozen at a time.
A well planned and creative hostel. Perhaps the best dorm-style place I’ve stayed in - the ‘bunk’ provides plenty of privacy, and was quite cosy.

SingaporeOnly one male toilet bowl.
Very clean and modern. We booked two private rooms for the family, which ended up being linked together via a doorway, so that was a wonderful bonus. Clearly segregated female area for peace of mind.

SwitzerlandIf you are a guest who is sensitive to noise, it might be difficult for you. But the hostel offers free hearing protection 😉
When we return to Hirosaki, we will book at Orando no Nikai again. The hostel is architecturally stringent and beautifully built. The assortment of the small gift shop is carefully selected and the products are of high quality. The café offers simple but fine food. The in-house cider is recommended. The people are very polite, discreet and helpful.
