Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

JapanThis personally didn't bother me but with it being a traditional, older building, it is a tiny bit run down in some areas. Also a tad pricey but it was New Year's so...
Wonderful character. Traditional rooms with modern comforts, and the massive life-sized alien statues at the entrance were an amusing contrast to the rest of the building. Easy walk from the train station, near a couple of really cute shops and eateries, not to mention the sea and Futami shrine. The public bath was small but I went in the early morning and had a very nice soak. The obaachan who runs this place was very charming.

AustraliaThe room is too small , just 2 tatami. You have to doing your cleaning outside your room with Shared toilet and bathroom. There’s no eating places around the area.
Quietness in the surroundings .

Saudi ArabiaAll good
It is a very nice and cozy place, right on the beach (which was the first swimming beach in Japan). It has a special aura, it seems a bit out of time. Special and comfortable. The area is also beautiful with interesting shops and places Nice onzen.

United StatesIt was hot in the upstairs hallway. Our rooms on the same floor were cool. We did visit during the hot summer months. I would not say that was a show stopper and might be beneficial in the winter months; we would come here again. However, it is the only negative thing I can think of.
We enjoyed our nice old school experience fresh with rotary phones in the room. The rooms have an old school feel but have modern air conditioners, flat screen televisions, mini fridges with small freezers, and dehumidifiers. The bathrooms in the rooms are old. However, the bathrooms the hallways have very new/modernized toilets (i.e. spraying type) as an alternative. The receptionist was very helpful and a good host.

FranceThe lady can not speak English. We'd have loved to enjoy meals at the guesthouse.
Very old guesthouse run by a lovely grandma. The rooms are huge and some have a private toilet. The onsen is small but enough for the capacity of the guesthouse. The location is amazing: at the beach front, and 5min walk along the cost to the Meotoiwa site. There is also a Family Mart not far, to get some food for the breakfast. Private free parking located 2min walk from the guesthouse.

United KingdomThe ryokan is conveniently located near to the train station and just in from of the beach. I loved immediately the atmosphere of the ryokan and the bath space. The lovely owner made me feel at home and I cannot wait to go back for another holiday.

SingaporeThe ryokan feels a bit run down and little creepy at night. The carpark is also 3 mins walk away.
The staff was very friendly and helpful! Location is great too, about 10 mins walk to Meoto Iwa in case you want to catch sunrise.

the location was perfect for the sightseeing I wanted to do, it’s right by the ocean, and the staff was very kind

BelgiumThe hotel is a typical authentic style Japanese inn, this means there is no lift. Unfortunately, the hotel doesn't provide meals. However, there are some local restaurants nearby the hotel. Also it is possible to buy some food and drinks at the convinience store. There is a convinience store is just 7 minutes walk from the hotel.
Very friendly staff, especially a lovely kind old lady, she even helped me to carry my heavy luggage to the second floor! The location of the hotel is just in front of the sea. The famous Futami Okitama shrine is about less than 10 minutes walk from the hotel. The Japanese inn is rather old and has authentic ryokan style. The room is very clean.

SwitzerlandIt took me sometime to find it, since the location in Booking, when using Google Maps, points you to 2-3 houses down the street and I don't recall having seen any apparent banner that I could understand. Only cash accepted for payment and there was no food service when I have been there (no breakfast either). Be aware that there is not so much around at short distance to have dinner. There is a convenience store besides the JR station, though.
The location is very convenient for Futamiokitama Shrine (Meoto Iwa / braided rocks), a few minutes on foot. It is not far from a JR station and bus stops to visit the big Shrines in Ise. The room is a traditional ryokan one. Mine had individual bathroom. The hotel has also common baths (furo), which, I always enjoy.

NorwayI liked the monster displays, but it would have been good with some explanation for why the Predator and Alien monster replicas are there in the first place. It seems a bit random. The place was a little bit run down. The bath was too hot for our liking.
The location was beautiful with an ocean view, and walking distance from Futamiokitama Shrine.

Japanthere was a toilet seat that had a crack in it in our room and it could pinch a little.
it was a beautiful Japanese traditional property with a beautiful view of the ocean from our bedroom window. the staff were very kind and welcomed us back every time we returned. it was slightly out of the city center but that gave it an even more enjoyable rural japan feel.

JapanThis is a perfect place with a cheerful host, a great location, and a small onsen (the water is not mineral, but it is enjoyable anyway). Our family felt there like home) The hotel doesn't provide breakfast, but it is possible to find some restaurants nearby, and there is a Family Mart within a 3-minutes walking distance.
