Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaNothing in particular. Love the place.
The hotel is located just above a coffee shop and a minute walk from the Kinosaki Train Station. There were 3 of us, and I believe we got a bigger room. The room looked aesthetically pleasing, it was just how I imagined it would be. The bed was somewhat comfortable and it felt like I was actually experiencing Japan culture. Which I love. We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. Upon arrival, each of us received a basket of goodies; tabi socks, slippers, towel and bath towel. These goodies are mostly used for the onsen. And everyday, you’ll receive a fresh pair of everything. They also provide Yukata for you to wear when you go to onsen. The room: The room has a double bed and extra beds (with additional purchase), two sets of “floor chairs” and a table, fridge, fan (i think), aircond/heater, and a toilet without shower. Since the room has no shower, you will need to shower or bath in one of the available onsens everyday. They also offer free breakfast in the morning. Overall, I loved this place. I wish we could stay here longer!

New ZealandOur room unfortunately had the door lock broken that afternoon before our check in, and the staff were very apologetic but were unable to close our door. They had put a barrier in front of our door to help but this meant we slept with the door slightly open. Other than that, it was worth staying at this hotel and we would definitely stay again!
The location was great, right by the train station (2-5min walk). Its bottom floor is the cafe entrance so you enter through there. It is a bit further from the main street where the onsen are, but we didnt mind the walk. They provided a delicious breakfast and there was a foot bath downstairs for guests to use. Staff were really friendly and helped us when we checked in very late. We went to the onsen that night and it was fairly easy to get around.

SingaporeNo shower facilities. I must have overlooked it but it’s quite a big turn off for me. Didn’t expect that the lower price was due to this. Had I known, I would have stayed in Toyooka and just come to the onsen town at night to use the facilities and take the JR train back to get a proper room facility
Near JR station and was the cheapest I could find in the area at that point in time. Decent breakfast

SingaporeThere’s no shower facilities in this property but I can understand why as most people will go onsen instead, after all this is an onsen village.
It’s very near to the train station and it’s very convenient to go anywhere.

Australiashould be made more clear in hotel listing that a private bathroom does not include shower or bath facilities. this made it very difficult to bathe our baby during our stay (and would have been good to know ahead of time). staff were nut I early helpful and did not appear to be very familiar with how the hotel operates (as they were mostly staff for cafe downstairs) 1 bathroom was not clean when we arrived. neither bathroom had hand soap filled up. beds were very soft and mattresses were on the floor rather than on bed frames, which was difficult for one of our party who has bad knees.
great location near train station and onsen. great price.

United KingdomRoom is small for 5 persons, no space for luggage. Wash basin is super small, you need to be very careful to not wet the floor. Check-out is quite early (10:30 am) but they will keep your luggage and you can get coffee while using the foot bath while waiting for your transport to the next destination so it's ok.
2 min walking from the train station, around 10-15 minutes walk to the onsen bath (depends on which onsen you are going to). Ground floor is a cafe where there is foot bath for you to enjoy. Yukata, haori, sock, basket, towel (to go to the onsen) are freely provided. The room is clean. It's quiet at night. There are 2 color of the yukata (yellow and deep blue) for adult, some size (S, M, L, children size. Children is light blue) They do not provide the pass to onsen bath. You can buy day pass or single ticket very easy at the onsen though. Breakfast is superb!

SingaporeYou can only use the ashiyu if you purchase something from the cafe.
Very close to train station. Just look for Kinosaki Ashiyu Cafe. Futon bed was comfy because a mattress was provided under the futon. Free breakfast was delicious! Was able to store our luggage after check out. Staff can speak some English. There is an attached toilet but no shower because this is an onsen town, you're supposed to go enjoy an onsen. (I don't know why some people complain about no shower room available).

SwitzerlandSteep staircase to the rooms and no lift - cannot recommend if you have large/heavy luggage or mobility problems. Mattress is on the floor and very soft. Front sliding doors of cafe are left unlocked at night so guests can come and go, so there is only the lock on your room door. Air conditioning was difficult to operate (it was November but unusually hot). No shower as you are expected to use the hot springs (¥800 single entry/¥1500 day pass). Staff were not super friendly but no real problems. Room rate would be extremely expensive/poor value for money most other places but accommodation in Kinosaki Onsen is expensive.
Located just around the corner from Kinosaki Onsen Station and bus stops, very simple rooms but well set up and had air conditioning and remote control for lighting. Pleasant foot bath in the downstairs cafe space and selection of yukata to wear. Easy walking distance to all the hot springs. Simple breakfast (buttered toast, boiled egg, sausage, yoghurt). No problem with noise (stayed Mon to Fri). Staff were fine, efficient check-in/check-out and looked after cases after check-out.

Netherlandsthe beds. a 2 persons bed should be for two people. this one was smaller than a queensize which doesnt make it a comfortabele option for 2 people. bed was also soft, as soon as one person moved, the other would wake up and pillows really small
it is always nice to have a place that is literally always open, even if it is just the door. you could enter and exit any moment. much complimentary stuff to make your life as easy as possible, as an onsen town should be.

It was close to the railway station. The hotel provided nice yukata and sandals for walking in town and visiting the various onsens. A basic breakfast was provided in the morning. A nice foot bath was available in the lobby. The small staff was helpful with providing information.
