Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWe had booked a superior room but they bumped us without prior warning. However, discount offered was generous. Room took minimalism to the extreme. A proper table & chairs, for which there was ample space, would have made the room more comfortable.
Handy for the station. Good value for Kinosakionsen.

MalaysiaNo chairs, no closet, not much space to hang clothes
The location was very close to the train station, so no need to struggle with our luggage and close to all the onsens and food. The hotel is very clean, but minimal furnishings, so for non Japanese or older guests, lack of chairs etc might be hard. The breakfast provided was good

Hong KongLocation is both pros and cons. It’s good that near the train station. However, the street was very dark in the night. Especially in rainy and cold day, it’s a long walk after onsen late night to go back to the hotel
Simple and clean hotel. Amazing staffs who manage both the coffee shop and hotel.

NetherlandsThe checkin wasn’t smooth, as we didn’t speak Japanese. The staff tried their best! There is no shower but that wasn’t a problem for us considering the availabilities of showers at the onsen.
Very spacious room, nice view and a very comfortable bed. We didn’t realise we would get breakfast so that was a nice surprise!

MalaysiaThe staffs don't understand English and hard for us to communicate with. It is a bit far to walk towards the public bathhouse and ropeway station.
Location is very close to the train station and restsurants. The hotel also provide free Kimono for guests to put on for photographing outside.

United StatesThe mattress was much too soft and the pillow was skimpy. It is worth noting that the (much more expensive) ryokans in town provide dinner for guests, so there aren't that many places open for dinner, lots of things close around 5 or 6 pm. We had a good dinner down the street at a place with a sign for beef and wine.
The location is great-- very close to the train station and an easy walk to all the onsens. It is above a coffee shop with great coffee and a foot soak area (the reception is the coffee shop counter). They give you a basket with towels and socks for toting to the onsens, which is much appreciated. The room was spare, but incredibly clean. The internet worked well. Breakfast was simple but good (yogurt, toast, hard boiled egg, slaw, sausage and coffee).

SingaporeIf you're a light-sleeper, you may find the room facing the front noisy. If so, avoid them. You need to climb a steep flight of steps to reach the top -- if you have problems doing this, might be challenging as they don't have rooms on the ground floor. Clothing hooks could be spaced apart further -- especially with winter jackets and coats, not enough space...
Room was as pictured on the booking platforms -- no surprises. Was given the exact room I selected, so I'm happy with that. The room is very clean, functional and doesn't smell. Comes with electric kettle, mini fridge... Hotel is located really near the train station and Satono-yu onsen (1 of the 7 public onsens) is right beside it -- so a stone's throw away. It's a very small town so the other onsens are all just within walking distance as well -- at most, a 20 min leisurely walk. The staff don't speak much English but are cheerful and helpful. The room I chose was facing the front, above the cafe, and the window can be opened -- that's great because was able to get fresh air circulating in the room. Bed was firm and comfortable and the pillow too. Heater in the room worked perfectly and the toilet is equipped with bidet functions.

United StatesThe stairs were a little hard on my mom (but we had the top/3rd floor).
The breakfast looks basic, but I thought it tasted quite good. The boiled egg is cold though. Their iced and hot green tea was also good. There’s a microwave on the 2nd floor along with amenities like qtips, slippers etc. It’s a basic room, but the accommodations look pretty new and clean. The toilet seat was always warm which my mom liked. They offer a foot soaking in the cafe area. The yutakas were nice. I read a review that had me hesitate on wearing the ones they provided, but I was concerned for nothing. They were fine (small, medium, large are the sizes). They replace the towels and socks that come in the basket you carry to the onsen. They also have dry racks available.
