How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Nice size of the room, especially for Japan. We had more than enough space for 2 people. Amazing location, it is walking distance from the market with plenty of steet food, restaurants and a lot of stores.

We stayed here for a week and it was wonderful. Staff are so Friendly and helpful, we had a good sized room and it’s so close to underground and transport links. Anyone going to Kyoto for the first time I’d recommend staying here.

The staff was very helpful and nice, the facilities were super clean and comfortable. The staff speaks English. The location was good near several train and bus stations and convenience stores

There were only two washers and dryers available at the hotel, and the dryers were ineffective. After two drying cycles (that we paid for) our clothes were still damp.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and assisted us with booking taxis to attractions like the Bamboo Grove or a pug cafe that we had an appointment at. The room was also more spacious than what we had experienced in other hotels in Tokyo or Yokohama, and had a decently comfortable bed with nice decor. The location was also nice, a short taxi from the Kyoto JR station, and had convenience stores nearby. The location was also ok, being a ~15 min walk to the Nishiki market and major subway stations. This walk was mostly ok but felt tough to do often in the summer heat/typhoon season.

We were a group of 62 students from Switzerland. When we arrived at the hotel, the staff had already prepared all the room keys, and everything was exceptionally well-organized, making the check-in process very smooth. The staff was consistently nice and helpful throughout our stay, and the rooms were not only pretty and modern but also comfortable and clean. The hotel's location is quite convenient, as both the metro and bus stations were very close.

Really nothing comes up to mind.
Very nice hotel with everything you need for a tourist or business travel. The staff is very nice and the appliances more that you will ever need. Really recommended.

Amazing hotel. Comfy beds. Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to station (Omiya, 3 minute walk). Clean super organised. Easy check in and check out.

The hotel is very modern and looks new or very well maintained! The room was small but that is not a problem at all if you are staying only a few days in Kyoto. It was great to come “home” after a full day of activities. Beside the room also all public areas such as common room, vending machine room, laundry room and public toilet were always clean. Towels and other toiletries are available either in the room or in the lobby. We had a great stay, thank you!

The location is just so closed from the most commercial street. The staff is so Nice and will take the time to help you so much in every step about your trip. The price and quality is unique.

Walls are thin, I could here people talking and hear them use the bathroom :(.
Next to the Nijo-jo castle. Far from kinkaku-ji and the arashiyama bamboo garden but the hotel was a good price for its value

The location of this hotel was excellent just a few minutes outside of Omiya. Sights and other metro stations are easily accessible from there or by foot. The hotel itself was very nice, clean and had everything you'd expect.

Accessible to quite a few local attractions by foot, and in an area well serviced by transit. Food in the area was also great, lots of options and lots of variety. The water and ice machines were also very convenient:)
