Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesPlat hostel was fine, nice location, pleasant front desk staff. Although the bedding was clean, the room had very scuffed walls with strange surface that cold and uncomfortable. The tv connected to Netflix, which was nice after a long day. Front desk staff were very friendly and kind.

GermanyUnfortunately, the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. My bed frame was extremely dirty and there was a lot of dust under the bed. The floor was generally dusty. Unfortunately there are only two showers and there was mold in both. There were also several sinks that were mostly dirty. There is no separate room for luggage so it was very noisy in the room late at night and early in the morning when people were packing. The lockers for suitcases were extremely small and narrow, my suitcase didn't fit. Unfortunately, several of my things also disappeared, either taken by other people or thrown away, as they didn't show up in Lost and Found either. Beds were rather uncomfortable for my liking but that is subjective.
You get what you pay for. The location is amazing and the price is more than fair overall. Sleeping rooms are also not too large, mine was for six people and the other for I think eight. You have a large common room where you can relax or work and the roof terrace is great as well.

NetherlandsA bit disappointed. This was my first hostel in Japan (stayed in hotels as well, but traveled to many hostels worldwide before). I was hoping for a social vibe. Didn't really find that, maybe just bad luck or common in Japan, where people are not so social towards strangers? The bed was not so good: super thin mattress and the blanket/duvet was really short, about 1.70, definitely too short for tall Europeans. I didn't sleep well because of this... Too bad. Two of the sinks did not drain well (very uncommon in Japan, where everything seems to be working perfectly all the time). All in all, small things that made my stay not the way I expected it to be.
Close to the station, friendly receptionist.

SingaporeThe hostel uses window blinds, so it got really bright early in the morning even though we wanted to sleep in a little more. It's a minor inconvenience but you may want to take note of this if you're a light sleeper.
The hostel was located at a walkable distance from the main train station, so it was pretty convenient. For the price you pay, the facilities were great. The staff was also very friendly and also allowed us to drop our luggages off first before checking-in.

RussiaThe room was dusty, around the futon perimeter and under the bed. The bathroom facility is for all genders and isn't clean enough. They also have wooden mats instead of absorbing water ones which makes it even dirtier.
The location is fine, walking distance from the main train station. I loved the Japanese style breakfast that included baby sardines and drip coffee. The staff was helpful when I arrived soaking wet after the rain, they helped to organise drying racks with the warm air dryers for my stuff. There is also a rooftop terrace and an elevator.

JapanThe duvet is quite light for the winter. We were cold at night even with the heater on. I wish the hostel supplied some warm blankets. The blinds do not block the light from the street, so I recommend wearing an eye mask. It's also quite noisy at night and early in the morning.
We stayed for one night in January 2024 to meet up with friends and do some hiking. We stayed in a private room with a double bed and private washroom. The bed was firm but comfortable. There is space under the bed for large items like suitcases. The private washroom supplied shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body and face towels, and toothbrushes, with other amenities available for a small fee. The toilet is a Japanese style washlet. The room had a large chair, rack with coat hangers, slippers, and a clothes drying rack for towels. Under the sink there was a small fridge, a kettle, and two glass mugs. In the 3rd-floor kitchen they offer free instant coffee and green tea, as well as a large shared fridge, microwave, toaster oven, and various cookware. It’s very close by to grocery stores and a cheap supermarket with evening discounts on prepared food. After 11PM the front entrance is closed, you enter via a code given at check-in, the door is very heavy so pull hard! They have other services we didn’t use like an outdoor terrace (open 8AM-9PM), laundry (washing 300円, drying 100円/30min), outdoor shower, rooftop view, smoking area, and a restaurant. Overall it seems like a really convenient place to stay, especially in the summer if you come for the beach.

SingaporeThe bed could have been more comfortable, but it's okay given the price. Also, the lockbox/locker was a little too small for some of my belongings. Would have appreciated a larger locker!
Plat is a great place for a short stay in Kamakura. Convenient location with many shops around (most are closed at night though), and easy to get to the train station. Fuss-free check in and amenities provided were superb.

PhilippinesI can't stand the smell present in the mixed dormitory and changing rooms. I hope a deodorizer is present. The public spaces are cold and no heater is present.
Customer Service - they spoke English very well, and I was able to leave my luggage before checking in and after checking out for a few hours. They are both approachable. Location: 10-15mins away from the Kamakura Station, and Komachi-dori street and Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. Towel (mini and big) and toothbrush is included. Blowdryer is available in the changing room. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash is present in the shower area. Locker/luggage area is enough for one medium-sized luggage. You can put your bagpack/handbag at the top level of the desk, and shoes in the second layer. Inside the capsule, there is a small locker with key where you can place your important items inside; a small lamp; three plugs; one pillow; two hangers.
