Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ArgentinaVery small room. We had a few luggages and it was difficult to move around. Other than that highly recommended

PolandOnly 2 showers and bathrooms for 15 people. The mixed dormitory room is quite cramped, no space for luggage whatsoever. The whole hostel is pretty small, but has everything you need, so maybe not the most comfortable but good enough. Slightly too expensive as for the conditions
It was nice. 10minutes from the station. Shower gel, shampoo and conditioner are provided. Cool common area with nice people. Kitchen with free tea and coffee. Free maps and guides of Odawara and Hakone

United StatesThe luggage space, maybe a luggage rack outside the rooms.
It’s literally 5 min walking from the train and bus station. Since I had the 3 day Hakone pass, I walked everyday to take the bus and train. I also enjoyed the town Odawara, the beach, castle, 2 min walk to shops , restaurants. The place is small to have luggage in the room, but typical for Japan, as the thin mattress too. I liked how the kitchen had everything for cooking, also a chill out area with lots of information about things to do in the areas.

United KingdomTwo bathrooms and one toilet are not enough for the number of beds. The dorms are quite cramped and no lockers to keep belongings in.
The location was the single best thing. The staff were also friendly and helpful!

United KingdomThe hostel owner threw me huge temper and stomped out of the hostel giving me total shock- I travelled alone with two luggages from the UK to Tokyo and arrived at Odawara via JR train. It was a long and troublesome journey, needing to handle two luggages myself. On my journey to Odawara, I saw from Instagram that same-day/ next-day luggage transfer service is common and affordable in Japan and hence enquired Reina and the hostel owner Hayato when I checked in. Reina was very helpful in helping to search for the delivery services. It was 18:40 on a Saturday evening so I understand that most customer services hotline was closed. I made it clear that I have enough time (4 days) to sort out the luggage transfer service and it is just an enquiry so no rush to decide on that Saturday night. Hayato was at first quite welcoming and gave me some suggestions to where to go in Hakone area. However, after a while, he insisted to sort out my luggage transfer service on that very night with insufficient information and started pushing me to decide on sending my luggages away on the 2nd day (instead of the penultimate day I checked out). I insisted on deciding and paying only upon receiving a clear reply from the Yamato luggage transfer service. Hayato then threw me huge temper and stomped out of the hostel which gave me total shock. I appreciate Reina's help in searching for relevant information but still feel very bad from being thrown such bad temper by the owner. No customer should be treated in this way. If you are not happy to help, just say you cannot help! Side note: In the end, I found that it is so much easier to take my luggages to the 7Eleven convenience store (at the East exit, next to the bus stop) and ask for Yamato luggage transfer service. In my case, my flight was from Narita Airport early morning on 11th, so I took the luggages to that convenience store on 9th (by 3pm) and I successfully collected my luggages before 7am on 11th from Narita Airport.
Hostel is around 10-15 minutes walk from the station. Location-wise, it is not super convenient and close but considering the price, it is acceptable. You just have to clear out your stuff from the room to check out, so it was easy. One has the option to leave their belongings at the hostel's common area on the check-out day if they want to spend more time to explore before heading off elsewhere.

GermanyThe hostel was very clean and provided us with all the necessary facilities. The front desk was extremely friendly and answered all our questions with a smile and we also had a nice chat as well! The location is super convenient as its a 10-15min walk from the train station, generally you could reach many beautiful locations within 15-20min. Finally, Odawara was surprisingly more beautiful than expected. We were blown away!
