Very large family room. The sahred areas (rest room, bathrooms) are veru nice, very clean. The inn is built is a very old storehouse and has a lot of charm. A typical japanese experience. Excellent japanese typical breakfeast. It is also very close to the city center and to what is to be seen in Matsumote

Being very tall it was always going to be a challenge getting through doorways. Not their issue, just something anyone over 5ft 11” would need to watch.

As advertised, hotel did not have en suite bathrooms.

Breakfast was delicious. Room was spacious and comfortable. Good value for money. Shared spa bath was highly enjoyable & excellent after a day walking in the snow.

We liked it all, but there are steep stairs/ladder up to the room which would not suit some people or those with young children.

A unique old property, quirky, but so beautifully maintained and it was a fun adventure. Fantastic position in the town. Breakfast was traditional and delicious.

It’s so magical and the architecture and design of the building, rooms, and dining area made it all so extra special. The host is so warm and we spoke over the delicious breakfast he prepared about local ingredients (in English). I wish I had stayed longer - the kotatsu and bath make you never want to leave.

It was very well located, just a few minutes walk from the train and the bus station, and very close to Matsumoto castle as well. The breakfast was delicious and we were told the dinner was very good too, so I’d definitely recommend future guests to book the option with dinner included.

Tens of opportunities to hit my head getting from my room to the front door. If you're over 6 foot 1, take that into consideration. Staff are not massively experienced but communication is good. Shared space is too small to feel usable if strangers are in it.

Quirky accommodation with real charm in walking distance of Matsumoto landmarks. Lots of sliding doors and funny little passageways. The loft room was spectacular - largely uninsulated but with good aircon. Dinner was well prepared and a fairly reasonable price for the effort and ingredients. Bath was a little confusing with the Auto-fill feature and a 1 hour timeslot for 3 men to bathe separately felt a little rushed but overall a comfortable experience. The 'yukata' provided were styled like very authentic oldschool peasant clothes which was fun.

We arrived on a rainy day and the place was very cold. The rooms have heating but the rest of the place was cold.

The breakfast was excellent, the location is walking distance to the main attraction, 15 min walk to the train station and 30 min to the Onsen at the edge of town. The place although is basic it is very clean, quiet and has everything you need.

Only some minor things. The facilities were generally clean, but windows sills were a bit dusty. Emergency sign in our room was on during night, so we had to cover it with a towel. Wifi speed was a bit low.

The food was an amazing experience - definitely the best food we had at a Ryokan in Japan. Location was perfect - best area of town and only a short walk from the station. High value for money.

This is a place to go for the incredible meals. The chef is passionate about quality Japanese cuisine. I recommend enjoying a meal there even if you don't stay in the hotel, which is quirky but clean and comfortable. You can also get a very hearty breakfast to start the day with. Wonderful hospitality.

Pretty much enjoyed everything about this place. Staff was friendly and accommodation was awesome.

Authentic traditional Japanese feel. Clean and comfortable. Location was close to center of the city. Prepared food was excellent and had different dishes every night.

There weren’t instructions for laundry. But the staff helped us and were very kind

We had an amazing time. The place is a small ryokan, with only 4 rooms so it very intimate and beautiful. It felt so authentic and truly Japanese. The shower and bath are clean and have hot water. Our room was nice and had ac, the futon was very comfortable. The food was great and most importantly the staff was kind and helped us with everything.

Had to check in early which wasn't a problem. The two staff were great - they speak English quite well, and were very patient with our very poor Japanese. Dinner + Breakfast is really good (but you do need to let them know you would like to have dinner when you are making your booking).
