A fun place to stay at

The onsen was lovely. For some reason it felt novel to staying overnight at a public onsen, so it felt fun to come out after the day guests have left and have free run of the place. The next morning we enjoyed the onsen first thing in the morning, such a luxury.

Small onsen with 7 rooms for overnight stay. The baths are simple but clean and with very nice water that leaves your skin feeling soft. During the day the onsen can also be visited as a day guest (500 yen), but after 20h the baths and central tatami hall are just for the night guests. Friendly staff and serene mountainous environment. Recommended!

The location is great, it's in a quaint small rural town with a rich history and a variety of options for excursions. Great view and amenities in the hot spring itself. The owner, Tomo, and his family were some of the most friendly people we met on our travels. When we first arrived at the bus station due to a variety of train cancellations, they even offered us a ride once we arrived. They were so warm and welcoming to us. We felt like we were at home. Highly highly highly recommend!

It's far from civilization which is a pro and con on its own. Really quiet, little people, and extremely peaceful. You'll need a car to get here, but the area is pretty much very suitable for a roadtrip!

Really competitive pricing. You can use the onsen after regular guest hours, and as there are only 3-4 rooms for guest so the onsen is pretty much a private experience. Book early to secure the room!! The general staff won't be able to speak English but the onsen owner has really good English (he took his master's in UK). All are extremely friendly though! Room was really clean and the futon was more comfortable than our other hotel beds!
