Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwedenPrefer individual room control of heating/cooling.
Very good location, close to station. Elevator to reception is a bit hidden on the backside of the building though. Quick check-in. Room per usual small but this is the norm for all hotels in Tokyo. Think rooms is fairly recently renovated looked very new. Bed bit firmer than normal. Biggest drawback that could be a problem is that heating/AC is centrally controlled. When I arrived it had been a very warm day in Tokyo so was extremely hot in room and no way to turn heater to cooling. Should be noted windows could at least be opened (but as hotel is close to station you will hear trains). But in overall for the price I paid I would still stay at this hotel next time.

Japan10 o'clock check out time was a little early, I thought. Sometimes, when I am in Tokyo, I need to send luggage or various papers out on the day I leave. Your staff was quite understanding and I was allowed to check out a little later than 10:00 / I think it was 10:20.
The staff was quite helpful & patient. In the last 20 years, I always stay in Otsuka close to the station. Many places closed during the covid years. Your hotel is a welcome addition.

FinlandInsulation from outdoor noise was suboptimal, although it isn't in a busy area so I was still able to sleep comfortably.
Cheap late check-out (1200Y for extra 2 hours). Relaxing elevator music playing when I enter the room.

AustraliaEntry on booking doesn't mention washing machines, driers and microwave listed in their available facilities. Nearly didn't book here because I was looking for them. No problems with the hotel at all. Would happily recommend.
Location is superb, easily seen from the north exit of Otsuka station. Close to restaurants and 7-11. Room was small, but had everything needed for a good night's rest. Bathroom was small, but well designed. Water pressure was perfect. Free breakfast options were fine. Had a small window I could open that overlooked the station area. Despite being a cold winter's night, the room stayed warm and cozy. The hotel also had washing machines (2 x 100 yen coin to operate), clothes driers (2 x 100 yen coin per 30 min), and a microwave, all in an alcove on the 4th floor. Machine to dispense change available in the entrance lobby. Staff friendly, helpful, and coped well with my limited Japanese.

United StatesThe bathrooms were incredibly tight for a Westerner. But water was warm and overall everything functioned well. Wish the windows had been constructed to allow for a view. As it was, half the window was permanently blocked by the sliding screen, which made the room darker than it needed to be. The breakfast selection was extremely limited so usually I had to supplement with bought food from the nearby stores.
Although the room was very small, the location just steps from Otsuka Station on the Yamanote Line more than made up for that. The front desk staff tried to be helpful, helping me with storing my bags for a few hours after I checked out and being very polite in answering my questions although I hardly speak any Japanese.

CanadaBed had a lining that was loud. Pillows had beans inside but that seems to be a cultural difference (we just weren't used to it). Room is small but enough space for two if you're out.
Steps from the yamanote green line, the train station is quite literally across the street. You can get to Shibuya in few stops. Staff was friendly. Secure luggage holding, they had a number system to keep it secure. Checkin was easy.

JapanTypical of Japanese inexpensive hotels, the pillows were miserable. One thin rice cracker of a pillow per human. Sadly that is the norm here though unless you pay more. Bed was narrow and quite hard. Some country's tourists like hard mattresses. My wife was not one of those tourists, so she had a hard night. Again though, cost performance was high
Excellent value in a fun and highly convenient location (hey, it's even near Gold's Gym!). Convenient restaurants and basically just seconds from the train station

JapanWe had a corner room, it might be different for other rooms. However, the corner room is quite small, there is almost no space for a suitcase, no matter what size. A place for shoes and/or jackets would have been nice. With the current room layout, everything is/hangs in the way no matter where you put it. The room is also quite dark when the sun is gone and you have to rely on electric light. There was a light in the corner, but the lamp on the ceiling could not be switched on, so the room has a rather gloomy atmosphere.
The hotel has an exceptionally convenient location, directly opposite Otsuka station. If the windows are closed, it is still not too noisy and you can sleep at night. There is a Royal Host (restaurant) in the same building and many shops and cafés are within walking distance. The room is small but equipped with essentials like shampoo, soap, hairdryer and a kettle for hot water. There are also cups, but no tea. For people with big suitcases: There is a lift behind the building. The location is signposted on the entrance stairs and cannot be missed.

United KingdomThe only thing I hated (I would not visit again due to this) was the sliding blank door over the window, which cut out half the daylight and made the room dark - I felt as if I was in prison!
Right next to station, transport and lots of restaurants on your doorstep! Very comfortable bed, reasonable breakfast for extra 500 yen, good shower, can leave your luggage at reception before and after checkout.

ThailandThe hotel lobby is located on the second floor with a stair to climb up to. If you are traveling with heavy luggages, there is one elevator at the back entrance of the hotel. The location of the ground level elevator is a bit hard to find and the entrance to the elevator feels like a loading area (which is probably what it is intended to be used for. Otherwise, this is an awesome stay!
The location is unbeatable just steps away from the JR Otsuka on Yamanote Line (1 stop away from Ikebukuro). The check-in was fast the room was in comparable size to other budget hotel but the mattress was from Airweave which is a luxury Japanese brand make the sleep very comfortable. There are also different kinds of pillows and amenities available for free at the lobby including toothbrush and razor. Coin laundry and ice machine were also available. Free luggage storage and scale for weighting the luggage were also available at the lobby which can come in handy before you leave for the airport.
