Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SingaporeThe bed wasn't made and I had to put on the sheets and pillowcase myself - haven't experienced this at any other hostel. The sinks on my floor weren't very clean and in fact the main sink in the men's toilet was pretty clogged up. The walls and doors are really thin and you can hear pretty much everything everyone else is doing and the doors get really loud when opening and closing. The showers were quite dirty and stinky and on one night there was no hot water for me to shower - I tried at least 2 or 3 different showers, gave up and decided to just take a shower the next morning. There were no social events organized by the hostel during my 2 nights there. They have a board where people staying at the hostel can opt to go out together, but there was only literally 1 person going to Dotonbori on the 1 full day that I was there and it's such where you would have no idea who it is.
The location of this hostel is very decent, close to 2 train stations with several convenience stores nearby. The staff were nice and pleasant, especially the lady that checked me in (I regret that I did not get her name). She was very friendly, patiently explained to me the facilities and regulations of the hostel and also gave me some recommendations of where to go and what to do during my stay in Osaka.

AustraliaThe showers could get a little smelly, and my rooms mattress was a little thin, but these are small gripes for what was a great stay.
The first and best hostel I stayed at on my trip to Japan. Absolutely amazing vibe amongst the guests in the cozy common room, events on the weekends, terrific staff, a great location in a more genuine feeling part of town, and super cheap. Incredibly social.

South KoreaThe staff at the guesthouse is really friendly and fun. It's just 3 minutes from the subway station, so it's convenient to move around. Both the bed and public facilities are kept clean and the bedroom is spacious. The guests are also very social. This might be the best option if you are looking for a friend to travel with. And tourists don't have to worry about the security of Nishinari. It's safe enough to walk around late at night. I made many memories here. Best guest house in Osaka 👍👍

You can even propose something and they'll make an open group for you. I stayed there for around 3 weeks and I slept well. The area is fun also ! Merci beaucoup 😚 I'll be back 🥳

United KingdomIf you want to pay to sleep somewhere and then get no sleep then stay here. The female dorm has over 20 beds, it is filthy and it smells bad. Everyones belongings are all over the floor because luggage storage is minimal. You can't even get to the bathroom. This is a very social hostel so lots of noise and people coming in and out all night. The showers are mixed and on different floor.
The staff are lovely and really helpful

New ZealandIt was quite pricey but think this is typical for Osaka. Staff were nice but one of the reasons we chose to stay at the hostel was to get suggestions and advice which weren't really forthcoming. That's all though. We were happy with our stay
Good location. Can easily get metro to explore and feels safe. Hostel was a high standard. Showers were best I have had in a hostel. Kitchen was tiny as was communal space but we didn't need to cook as so much food in Osaka! Room and beds were also good

United StatesIt’s hard not to be a harsh critic when I’ve stayed at multiple accommodations at the same price point during my time in Japan that have provided towels, pajamas, slippers and extreme cleanliness. Pajamas and slippers I could live without and luckily I had my own towels but I didn’t love the cleanliness of the shower area or shared toilet area. There were so many (mold?) spots on walls next to the showers, nowhere to hang anything (hooks are so easy to add), only one small wobbly (dirty) cart to put your things on. In the toilet area there are shared hand towels (so gross) that could be so much more sanitary with disposable towels. Who knows how well people wash their hands. The airflow in the ladies room was awful, it was so stuffy at night not to mention how hot it is in a top bunk. I didn’t notice there was a sign to let the staff know about temp issues until it was too late so maybe that was my fault.
It was good location wise, not too far from the train station, nearby restaurants/grocery/convenience stores, though the area didn’t feel totally safe at all times.

United StatesIt’s like a frat house, people partying until 5am, not respecting the quiet hours at all, talking like no one is around in the dorm room when everyone is sleep. Maybe this situation would change as the travelers do, but I can’t say I had a good stay there.

ChinaIf you are in a mixed dorm, there'll be abt 20 beds meaning that there'll be so many people. People's behavior vary and this is not something that the hostel can determine. There's an a$$hole who shouted out loud after 11pm and laughed like a j. er K in abt 3 am (gladly he lowered his voice but it's still hearable) and walked in the corridor making large noise with no intention to take care of others who already fell asleep. Another thing that I'm not satisfied with is the noise came out of the hostel (as my bed is adjacent to the windows). People (I can tell that they were foreigners but not sure if they sleep in this hostel) made large noise on the streets after 11pm and it's bit annoying.
Staff: Welcoming, warm, and helpful. I only stayed for one day so I only encountered the lady in the front desk. Location: Good. Though located in a 'relatively run down' area in Osaka but it's not that bad apart from the hygiene enviornment of the roads. There're JR stations, metro stations and many convinient stores. Comfortness: Quite good.

ThailandThe cleanness and the leaving luggage at the 1st floor, in hope that the cctv will catch the thief is naive. The location was not closed to any train stations as I hoped for.
I like the hospitality of their staffs, they are energetic people, cool, kind snd flexible.
