The meal was very complete, and it would be nice to have a brief explanation of each course. Maybe a printed list, even if in Japanese.

Beautiful location, quiet in the off-season but maybe that's what you're looking for? The included kaiseki breakfast and dinners were excellent. The onsen baths were large, clean and well equipped.

we had to set up our own futon for hygiene purposes which i don't quite understand since it's been a while since the peak of covid. the room window also wasn't too clean so it hindered the amazing view of the lake. the outdoor onsen had a great view but wasn't too clean (i could feel algae slime on the floor) and the indoor onsen looked aged with a lot of copper-like deposits.

good location - right in front of the lake so the rooms had good views. clean and spacious room and friendly staff. meals weren't amazing but still yummy.

Only 1 way in or out which is via bus and frequency is low. We worked our trip schedule around it and enjoyed it. People whom are rushing for time will not like the wait to get into the location.

The meals were hearty and staff were friendly. Onsen was excellent and full of mineral benefits. Views were gorgeous and everything has met our expectations and more.

not much to do in the area. we were there in fall and seemed like area more popular in winter and summer. As others have mentioned - great outdoor onsen location but water very cloudy and green. This could be a desirable health quality but takes some getting used psychologically. water was not unlike some natural springs in eastern sierras in california.

This property is a lot better than some reviews suggest. It’s a bit old and some aspects of the decor are not great but it’s clean and comfortable with great views from the room, excellent meals, and great hiking at the door. You can even rent canoes and kayaks. Overall good value for the money.

Great location, room had a wonderful corner view of the frozen lake and ice village. We loved our suite and were served a magnificent feast in our room for dinner. Beds were made up for us after dinner. Onsen was well maintained and we participated enjoyed the jacuzzi.

Dated property

Dated property but onsen is well worth the visit. Staffs are friendly, especially during check in. well out of the way to make sure we were well informed. Location is out of the way during winter due to usual road closure on the other of the hotel.

1. The heater in the room is too warm and dry. 2 The pillow is too hard and uncomfortable.

1. The view in the room is so awesome, you can see the lake directly without any blocking. 2. Recipients staff is friendly and can speak mandarin, the attitude is nice and polite! 3. Dinner and Breakfast is so nice, no matter for the vegan meal or classic Japanese cuisine.

Nothing. I’d suggest only staying for 1 night as there isn’t much to do at the lake itself. Definitely worth a visit though.

All was fine

Nothing not to love- location, friendly staff, Olsen, food, view. Sad we missed the Ice festival ( Shikaribetsu village) by only 3 days. Stayed here May 2024 and returned in the winter. Staff speaks English and is very respectful courteous and so nice.

Nothing, everything was perfect

This was by far our favourite hotel of the trip. Everything was wonderful, the room, the view, the Staff, attention to detail and the fabulous food which was plentiful. The staff were so friendly and very helpful. The Onsen was beautiful and the outdoor Onsen a real treat with views over the lake.
