Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Philippinescheck out staff could be more engaging
Available umbrellas, laundry area, more than enough clean, soft, white towels; location was close to the bus stops, train stations and very accessible to the tourist spots.

CanadaBoth toilet and shower room had a not so great smell. We made the mistake of leaving the doors open on our first day…Arrived back at the hotel and our sleeping area had the bad smell from the washroom. We kept the doors closed and vents on for the rest of our day.
Amazing location. Front desk offered to help us fill out our Yamato delivery slips. One of the more spacious hotels we stayed at on our 2.5 weeks trip.

PhilippinesBathroom and toilet are 2 different sections of the room, taking up precious space of the room (bathroom space can be reduced/ toilet and shower area can be merged do there will be more space to move around and arrange stuff Water temperature for shower is inconsistent; you have to adjust knob every few seconds. The water becomes too hot or too cold immediately.
Good location (walking distance from train and bus stations, from Gion and Higashiyama districts) Has pantry with vending machine, dryer, and microwave Can store luggage while waiting for check in time

In the heart of geisha land so had an authentic feel about it plus the older buildings made you appreciate the old style Japan. And only a 10 minute walk away are the very modern shops and buildings. Very helpful staff and a room with everything we needed 🙂

SingaporeExtremely helpful staff that speaks English. The hotel was very helpful in accepting our luggages via Ta-Q-Bin luggage forwarding. Although they do not deliver out for luggage forwarding, there is a nearby FamilyMart within 5 mins walk that serves as a luggage drop off. It's near the Sanjo train station and surrounding bus stops, which connects directly to many key attractions within Kyoto. The coin laundry is helpful for light travelers, and the room size is spacious for its price.

ThailandHeating in the room was too hot even we adjust to the lowest temperature. Opening window was little help. Difficult air flow in the room made us uncomfortable to breath.
Good location and easy to walk around Gion area at night. There is staff who can speak Thai fluently that is very helpful. Hotel provided service to store our luggage before check-in and after check-out so we can travel smoothly and so convenience.

SingaporeI don't recall disliking anything during our stay, appreciate about everything.
Just a 2 to 3-minute walk from Gion Shijo Station, or a 10-minute taxi ride from Kyoto Main Station, the location is highly convenient. It is in proximity to the shopping district, ensuring there are no concerns about finding places to eat, attractions, or shopping opportunities. We arrived early, during lunchtime, to drop off our luggage since the actual check-in time was after 3 pm. Despite having a group of 10 people with numerous pieces of luggage (10+), the staff was exceptionally friendly. They assisted in storing our luggage in the storage room until our return late at night, just before 11 pm. Moreover, they even arranged for the next shift staff to be on standby in case we returned after 11 pm, showcasing flexibility in their support. Bravo to their accommodating service.

United StatesIt would be nice to have some food options in the morning for breakfast, and the staff wasn't always at the front desk. The bathroom is also only EXACTLY big enough - in fact the sink and bathtub share plumbing. Hard to get dressed in there, for example, if you need privacy from your roommate.
This is a great value for money in a superb location. Despite being right in the midst of Gion it was quiet for sleeping. There are absolutely no frills - really the bare minimum of space for bathroom and beds, no restaurant, and front desk staff only there certain hours - but if you want to save your money for sightseeing and dining as we did you can't do much better. Clean and easy to deal with. A couple tips: you can get breakfast next door at the Granbell for under 2000 yen if you want to eat something other than coffee early in the morning, and get the benefits of a much more expensive hotel without paying for the room there. Also in Japan you can send luggage ahead with various luggage transport services which means you don't have to lug bags on the shinkansen - and the hotel had these brought to our room before we arrived which was great.

PortugalHonestly there is nothing to point out, it's a great hotel for this price range.
Perfect location, a few minutes walking from transportation, restaurants, shops, the river! The staff is also incredibly nice and helpful, we left the bags there while we went on an overnight trip and the next day they were already in our new room. Beds are very confortable and the room is spacious enough. Nice toilet (typically from these type of hotels). Good Wi-Fi. They have laundry and dryer (paid).
