Very friendly staff, great location, spacious rooms for Japan, and wonderfully quirky decor. Comfy beds, and luscious doonas - perfect when the weather turned cold. Didn’t bother with the odd slice of toast breakfast, but good coffee at the stall just in front of the hotel.

We only wished there were more options for breakfast but there is plenty close by to enjoy. We didn’t mind, but a tough location for taxis to get to when checking in/out. Definitely for walking enthusiasts.

The property was beautiful and comfortable! At first we were a bit disappointed there was no TV but pretty soon, we appreciated the chance to unplug and enjoy the breathtaking views. The room was a carefully thought out experience, staff was amazingly friendly/helpful and the location couldn’t be any better. We are leaving inspired for our home remodel!

Everything was great!

Hip boutique hotel with decent sized rooms, comfortable and chill bar/ lounge near reception. The rooftop has fabulous views of surrounding Kyoto and shrines and the courtyard has a fantastic coffee shop! A cherry on top is the location in the middle of a historic district with shopping and shrines.

I almost don't want to tell anyone how fabulous this place is in case it's booked out for when I next want to visit! This hotel is absolutely amazing, with a location you just can't beat - right in the heart of Higashiyama, a 1 minute walk up the street from the Yasaka Pagoda and a convenient walk to everywhere you need to go in the area. The sunset view of both the pagoda and the Kyoto skyline on the rooftop is stunning, don't miss it. The staff are really friendly and helpful, and the room itself was huge! I loved the modern industrial vibe, it was really cool. I will definitely stay here again!

This was the largest room I had on the whole trip. The room was very nice, decorated in loft style, everything is thought out to the smallest detail. The staff were very friendly and helpful in all matters. Just before we left, I found out that there was a roof top with amazing view of the old town, don’t miss it!!! The location is very good, almost in the centre of the old town, lots of cafes and restaurants nearby 👌🏻. There is a coffee point next to the hotel where guests get a discount. It's a place you really want to go back to. I highly recommend it !!!!

Absolutely loved this hotel! Everything about it made our stay so magical. The location was excellent. As soon as we walked into the hotel reception? We knew it was going to be a positive experience. Smelled so nice and luxurious. The room style was different to what we had ever stayed in but so beautiful and had the best view!

If you are sensitive to light at night, ask to use the black out curtain for the hallway window. Some light comes through the blinds which is inevitable, given they chose blinds instead of black out curtains (interesting choice).

Beautiful design and lovely staff. Comfortable beds (rare in Japan). Central location and peaceful at night. It feels relaxed and homely. Good value for money. A rare gem of a hotel. Super interesting and not like any other hotel I’ve stayed in Japan.

The breakfast is very basic but it's sufficient and we loved choosing the plates. The staff are very lovely. The rooftop view is beautiful. The location is incredibly central for walking throughout the Gion district

Breakfast is a bit meagre. Just toast. Not much space either if several guests come down at sane time. They could make more of the rooftop, e.g. comfy chairs and maybe a bar area with some lighting.

The hotel is in a great location, high up in Higashiyama and 10 mins walk to Kiyomizu-dera. The rooms are fun with quirky taps, a drop down hanger, and a big lighting controller at the bed head. Spacious for Japan and with a fridge, dehumidifier and aircon. Rooftop is nice at sunset.
