Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaEverything was fine except for the beds, harder than concrete but the Japanese love them
Great hotel close to all amenities in Yokohama. Train, bus and easy walking to almost all of Yokohama. It is also located in one of the main shopping streets and if you are catching a cruise ship a twelve minute walk. A bonus for the hotel pyjamas are supplied if you need them and on the top floor is a traditional Japanese Bath

CanadaVery tiny room (no room for a luggage), outdated facilities and furnishings. There is not even a bed lamp - one needs to use the ceiling light to read in bed. The hotel will only allow check-in exactly at 15:00, so the lobby is packed with guests with suitcases and must line up to check-in like at the airport check-in counter.
Very convenient location, close to all transportation and major attractions in Yokohama. Nice to have a public bath with thermal water.

JapanWhen I arrived at the hotel, Chinese tourists were checking in. The staff explained things to Chinese tourists in Japanese and English, and the process took a long time. Staff can save time by explaining in your native language using a translation function on your iPhones. Also, I think the check-in process will take less time.
The cleaning of the room was perfect. I was able to spend my time comfortably. Location was good. Staff was polite.

JapanThe breakfast space itself was a little bit cramped for my liking. I found myself waiting a bit too long for the elevators with the lobby on the 2nd floor, breakfast on the 1st and the public bath on the top floor meant that the elevators were constantly in use and sometimes even so full that they refused to start until people stepped out.
I've stayed at several Route-Inns at this point and whilst none of the hotels were identical to another, there's a certain consistency you can expect and I like having my expectations met especially in regards to breakfast. If you've ever had a Route-Inn you've had this one (I believe I've had a Hanachaya breakfast at a different Route-Inn location actually.) The variety is pretty good and most of the items themselves are good with a couple of standouts. The location was fantastic. There was so much to do within about a 15 minute walk including China Town and Nippon Maru (Which is basically next to Landmark Tower). Once I'd checked in, the only public transport I used over a couple of days was a quick train to Yokohama Station for dinner and the metro station is very close to the hotel too. The lobby was quite nice and there was a lot of good seating if you end up waiting to check-in or something.

JapanThere was only 1 pillow, wish I was given another one as I was in a double bed. Even though I put a "do not disturb" sign, I was still disturbed by a call to the room asking me if i wanted towels... the reason I put a sign is so I could sleep in late and not be disturbed... but my sleep was still disturbed by an unnecssary phone call... the housekeeper could just leave the towels at my door without disturbing me
I liked it that i was given a room at the end of the corridor, far away from the lift, so it was nice and quiet. The onsen facilities was great, a lot of shampoo/conditioner variety, skincare toiletries, etc

United StatesThe timing of coffee lounge is opened at an unreasonable hours. I believe a 1:30 pm coffee is a great time for a coffee pick me up. The time is currently starts at 3 pm. A lobby sign in English would be helpful on the first level to make it easier for Americans.
it’s in the heart of Kannai where there are good eats, very close to Yokohama, and bus and train stations are right around the corner. Onsen and great breakfast that is not repeated in our two day stay. plus they have washer for a nominal price. And a coffee lounge on first level.

AustraliaThe good: the location was great, which is why we chose this hotel. The staff were helpful. The bad: the bed was like concrete, there was absolutely no spring to it, just a solid piece of concrete. Between that and the fridge making a constant annoying noise right next to the bed, we barely got any sleep. We were woken up at the crack of dawn by people standing out the front of our room yelling. We were also locked out of the room as the room key was faulty. Staff were helpful to get a new one.

Location: hotel in Bashamachi, Kansai area. Streets not touristy and quiet with lots of restaurants and convenience stores. Compared to area around Yokohama Station and Mirato Mirai, Bashamachi has history, hence character. Walking distance to Minatomirai Line (closest), Municipal Subway Blue Line and JR Negishi Line. Also walking distance to Minato Mirai 21 Central District (to reach Yokohama Landmark Tower, Queens Square etc), Minato Mirai 21 Shinko area (to reach Cup Noodle Museum, Red Brick Museum etc), Yokohama Stadium and Yamashita Park. Further on, you could reach Chinatown and Motomachi (and return to Route Inn by Minatomirai Line). I found the Izezakicho shopping/walking street, immediately across the opposite side of JR Kannai Station, worthwhile visiting because of many local shops and restaurants. Staff: excellent and helpful. Upon check-in, I was drenched with my baggage due to heavy rain despite a short 1-minute walk from the #5 exit of Bashamachi Station. The front-desk staff instantly gave me a towel to dry. I was impressed. Also, after the first night, I found the a/c noisy. They changed my room on the same floor and view the next day. Room: totally adequate for single occupancy. I love the bedside lamp with adjustable intensity and reachable switch. My room is facing the Kanagawa Prefecture Museum of Cultural History with the big green dome. It was always quiet. Breakfast: the opted predominately-Japanese breakfast is delicious and adequate in terms of variety. They want you to choose the time frame for breakfast. I chose 06:30 to 07:30. Onsen: Delighted to have after a tiring day of sightseeing. The sliding door between the changing area and the onsen is not automatic. Some guests forgot to close it after entering or leaving. It didn't bother me. Value: excellent. I am considering Route Inn again on my next visit to Osaka in 2025.

We were given a larger room which was very much appreciated as we stayed for 11 nights. Great position, nice street and only a few minutes walk to a main train station, large supermarket and lots of shops. A comfortable very pleasant walk along the bayside were most of the tourist attractions are. Cruise terminal a comfortable walk away.
