The room was spacious and had a table with taller chairs we could sit at. We enjoyed the onsen. We had the special dinner and it was several rounds of items and almost more than we could finish. They gave us shoes and kubatas that were sized to us and not one size.

If you are allergic to shellfish, its best to specify that you are allergic to shellfish and crab and shrimp and clams and other mollusks. I think there was a translation issue there but they were very accommodating and understanding when I explained my situation.

Just a 10-minute walk from downtown. Very comfortable, we loved staying in the Japanese-style rooms. It felt like we had our own little apartment. Get the Japanese style dinner, it was unforgettable!

The room and the onsen

We expected to sleep in a real ryokan, not in a themed ryokan hotel. This was misleading. They made it in a nice way, but for this amount of money we expected a more real experience. It would be fair to mention this in the type of room you book ('themed' instead of a real ryokan).

When we arrived we got a warm welcome. Really nice experience to step into an old ryokan. Unfortunately this was only the entrance, the rest of the building is a big themed hotel block. The breakfast was special and lovely. We stayed to night's and we chose to get both nights a Japanese breakfast (both were different). The onsen is small but nice after a day walking.

Lots of rules - charged if you wanted to use additional futons etc. I haven’t seen that at any other ryokan.

The Ryokan was everything we wanted from a traditional Japanese hotel/guest house. Very comfortable and the staff we very helpful. Most things we wanted were within walking distance, including the station, bus station and the old town. Plenty of great restaurants nearby.

Great location only a short walk from train station and old town Takayama. Beautiful spacious rooms. Immaculately clean. Onsen small but cosy and very relaxing. We loved our stay here. Would come again.

Amazing traditional ryokan hotel. The staff were so welcoming and helpful. Kaiseki style breakfast and dinner are a must try here too. Small onsen was handy and not busy even tho the hotel was fully booked. A short walk away from the must see areas of Takayama too. Highly recommend
