The room was fine, not the cleanest in the world, but fine enough for the price. However, the toilet was disgusting. The problem was not for being a squat toilet, that is still comum in Japan, but it was really dirty.

I was expecting for a shared room, so I was really surprised when I found a private room. The room was big and I had my own toilet and shower.

The room was a little bare and the futon not the most comfortable.

Super close to the station and the reception area has a lot of interesting things to look at. The staff was nice, too, and always willing to chat or recommend places to go. Also, my bathroom had shark slippers, those were great.

Japanese style toilet was a little tricky for us, but if you're used to i, it wouldn't be an issue at all.

No breakfast, but is fine for me. The owner is friendly and open with foreigners. It is nice to chat with him for around an hour.

The Japanese style toilet is really difficult to use.

I own the big traditional room for myself and have my own bathroom with very good prices and near the Jr and bus.

The room and bathroom were really dirty (not the sheets/towels though). The sink and bathtub looked like they’d never been thoroughly scrubbed, so I always used my own flip flops in the room and in the tub. I never saw the owners, which seems like a shame since they were praised a lot in other reviews. It’d have been good to get some help carrying my suitcase on the fourth floor since there’s no elevator. Lastly, the doors are rather flimsy and you can hear anything from the corridor.

I don’t like sleeping in big dorms so I was happy to find a room at “hostel price” but with the privacy of my own room/bathroom.

No elevator, so you will hear people moving luggages up and down the stairs.

I loved the location, it was both close to the station and there were cafes and restaurants nearby. The staff was extremely friendly. The hotel was super funky, filled with cute souvenirs, art work and books. The room had everything we needed.

That I didn't stay longer! Great hotel, great city, great people.

This hotel is so cool. The room had fun lights and what I needed for a short stay. There were little touches too, like a complimentary bottle of olive tea (delicious). The owner Showichi Ogasawara is an absolute gem. He gave me great recommendations and I could play with his cat (the other one was too shy). It is a budget hotel - but one of the coolest I've stayed at. Oh yeah - there was a Dyson hairdyer in the room.
