Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ItalyWonderful place to stay with a real ecolodge feel. We really enjoyed the BBQ prepared for us in the evening and took advantage of the isolation by walking up to the viewing point in the morning to see the sun rise: magical! Viewing the moon and Jupiter through the telescope in the observatory was the cherry on the cake!

United KingdomWe loved our stay at the star lodge. We were made to feel very welcome and our room was perfect, set out with futon beds on tatami mats. The communal areas are large and there is a lovely heated low table area where you can sit and warm up. We ate at the lodge and had the chef’s special set meal on the first night, it was delicious and just as good as any top restaurant we’ve eaten in. We had breakfast too and it was tasty and filling. There are public onsen on site, which were great. It was quiet, so we had them to ourselves. We even got to see the moon on our last night through the large telescope onsite. There are plenty of walks around the lodge, some can be steep, but ok if you’re fit. The road to the lodge is narrow and windy, so would recommend doing it in the daylight.

AustraliaThe property is accessed via a public road and it is not for the faint hearted. We drove up and back and it is about a 35min drive on a very narrow, winding, rough, single vehicle road with shear drops on the side. Would suggest to navigate this during the day only.
The property itself was clean tidy and in an amazing location. The staff were friendly and engaging and the observatory experience was spectacular.

United KingdomJust take care driving up, it’s a windy narrow mountain road. Make sure you drive up in daylight!
Absolutely fantastic little guesthouse (and observatory) right off the beaten track and in the most peaceful hillside location, you’re really up in the hills with great views. Very affordable Japanese style rooms, really clean and comfortable even for a group (8) sharing a large family room! Shared bathrooms with good showers and a lovely warm bath. You can request breakfast (Japanese style) and a basic noodles or curry & rice dinner which is simple, but really hits the spot after a day exploring the Iya Valley. The folks running the guesthouse were super friendly, helpful and generally all round lovely, showing us round the observatory and helping us with stargazing. We only intended to stay one night but loved it so much we stayed an extra night! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend, such a very special place.

TaiwanWay way overpriced for what was offered. The drive was long and when we got there, everything was charged for a room that was already way too overpriced. The observatory was sad. My wife and daughter were expecting something cool but we only saw a star that appeared as a dot. The room was too hot and insects kept us awake. They charged for towels and terrible canned food. I would never recommend this to anyone. We paid eat too much for two nights but only stayed for one because my wife, daughter and I were so unhappy with the place. At least the host was very pleasant.
The host was friendly and helpful.
