Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomFood was not what we expected and not to our taste, so we ended up cancelling the other two meals. Onsen was very small and the rooms were cold.
Cosy room and has a nice view of pond (not mountains like advertised tho). Staff were lovely and put up our terrible japanese.

United KingdomThere was some confusion regarding room keys.
Really cute hotel for exploring Kinosaki Onsen. Yukata’s were provided for walking around the town, they were lovely. The food was great, if a little overwhelming.

Hong KongTheir public bath was a bit small and old, but I opted for the public onsen nearby.
The location is very accessible, walking distance to JR station and public onsen bath houses nearby. Many shops, coffees and restaurants are around. Their staff are very friendly, I especially appreciate the lady from Vietnam who has given me lots of helpful local information. The dinner and the breakfast were great and tasty. My room has a private toilet, a nice 'genkan" entrance, the futon was comfortable.

AustraliaThere was no elevator so bags needed to be carried up a few flights of stairs, and a very obvious cigarette smoke smell in the main entrance and staircase but the rooms smelt clean. The place was not newly renovated however I felt it added to the charm.
Wholesome ryokan that felt really traditional. Great location and close to everything. Staff are very kind and helpful.

ThailandWhat i was unhappy was i have already asked for the late check out at 11 and the lady who prepare us the dinner said it was ok. But in the morning, when i come back from walking at 10.10 am., the middle age owner shout "check out is 10am". and hurry us to pack and leave. We haven't had a chance to take a bath of use the onsen in hotel at all (though we paid for it) We check in very late the day before and a little generosity to guess would be appreciated. The amount of dinner and breakfast is more than enough. They are all Japanese style (no bread). The quality is fair.
The location is good. It is in the middle of Kinosaki Onsen. Close to public bath. Though it is not in the main road but it is perfect. The room is great. Parking is free. Room is spacious. The Nepal staff speak good English and help dress my kids in Yukata, thank you very much.

United KingdomUnfortunately, I forgot some jewellery after checking out, and my hotel in Kyoto kindly helped me call Sinonomesou to ask about it. However, they said they couldn’t find it, which was surprising since we called only three hours after leaving. I had high hopes that it would be found, given Japan’s reputation for honesty, but sadly it wasn’t.
I absolutely loved staying two nights at a traditional ryokan like Sinonomesou. It was amazing to experience an authentic Japanese stay, from the tatami room to wearing a yukata and enjoying the public bathhouses. The location is great, just a 10-minute walk from the train station and very close to many of the public onsens. The staff, while speaking limited English, were extremely patient and helpful. The meals were a highlight—dinner and breakfast were both fantastic! Experiencing authentic Japanese cuisine was a real treat, and dinner on the first night included a whole snow crab. One of the most special parts of the experience was eating seated on the floor at a small Japanese table (chabudai), which made the meals feel even more authentic. The food was very tasty, and they were very prompt with the meal times. The in-house onsen at Sinonomesou was also very nice, clean, and relaxing. It helped me prepare mentally for visiting the other onsens in town. One of the reasons I chose Kinosaki was because the onsens here are tattoo-friendly. While I don’t have any tattoos, my husband does, and he appreciated that he could visit the public bathhouses in town. However, please note that if you have any tattoos, you are not allowed to use the onsen at Sinonomesou itself. The room was spacious with large windows and fresh tatami, including a wash basin and toilet in the alcove. They provided free access to all the public bathhouses in town, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

South KoreaI couldn't experience the typical Japanese omotenashi.
Breakfast and dinner were both brought to our room, which allowed us to enjoy leisurely meals, and the variety was quite good. The location, set back from the main road, was quiet. Although this area is known for the sound of geta clogs at night, it was quiet being further inside, which was actually better. Parking was a bit inconvenient as it was far, but the ryokan staff provided clear directions. It's important to recognize the main gate since the ryokan is among similar-looking houses. While the owner and staff were a bit reserved, they were not unfriendly. In some ways, it felt more comfortable as they gave us space to relax.

AustraliaNothing to complain about. We had room 1 which was up 3 short flights of stairs. No problem for us but I think all the rooms were up at least one flight of stairs so not suitable for people with mobility issues.
Quiet and convenient location near to the public onsens and all the shops and restaurants. The town is small so nothing is far from anything. Our room was big and there was a flask of hot water and tea waiting when we arrived. We were warmly welcomed by the ladies who run the hotel (not grumpy as reported by some previous travellers). Nice little on-site onsen which was always accessible and I never saw anyone else in it on either of the times I used it. The ladies set up our futon bedding while we were out at the onsen late afternoon. Some travellers have complained that it’s a little plain and looking its age. That’s true but that is reflected in the price - it’s very affordable compared with others in town. Air purifier was not noisy. There was a massage chair in the room for free. Also a minibar fridge stocked with beer, sake, umeshu and non-alcoholic drinks at about the same prices you pay in bars outside. Yukata, towels (fresh ones daily) and geta provided for visiting the onsens as well as an access ticket valid from 3pm on day of check in to 3.30pm on last day of booking for visiting any of the public onsens.

SpainDon’t expect luxury. It was not the most comfortable ryokan we stayed in. I think it needs up-keeping. Be careful if you carry big suitcases, there’s no lift Food was not as tasty as in other places, and slightly heavy for dinner
The location is perfect. Walking distance from station Also it was good to have a pass for other seven onsen Food was abundant
