The room was huge and fantastic. It was a real traditional Japanese experience. We had a tea ceremony on arrival, the baths were great and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious. It is a really special place and one that our kids will definitely remember.

United KingdomRoom was a little dusty eg: on the tatami mats. For our group preferences we would have liked a hot food element to the breakfast, as apart from the tea and soup all other components were served cold. The view from Zuiun suite was predominantly overlooking a main road which could deter visually from the otherwise tranquil setting of the room and inn (note: we had no problem with outside noise)
Historic (over 100 years old) inn offering a traditional ryokan experience. Shikitei is located in a great location, 5 minutes away from Nara Park's Ichi-No-Torii gate. In the morning we could see the deers passing from the window. The public onsen/bath is readily available to guests and it closes at midnight. Staff were all very friendly and provided a thoughtful and considered service to guests for example: a welcome drink and sweet treat, additional snacks in the room and post-dinner snacks (rice rolls) and cold water. We enjoyed being able to have our dinner and breakfast in our room (having stayed in the Zuiun suite). The Zuiun suite is very spacious, futons were incredibly comfortable to sleep on and room is beautifully decorated. We liked the option to order an in room massage in the evening (the staff arrange for external masseuses to come to your room after dinner), which was a nice touch and was priced fairly / good value.

We had an amazing stay! The staff’s 5-star service made us feel incredibly welcome. The room was spacious, spotless, and well-equipped, and the hotel’s authentic Japanese atmosphere was truly special. The onsen was a fantastic experience, perfect for relaxing. The location is excellent—right next to Nara Park, just a 10-minute walk to the station, and surrounded by great food and shops. A huge thank you to the staff for their honesty—we accidentally left an iPad in the room, and they quickly found it for us. Everything about this hotel was exceptional. A perfect blend of comfort, hospitality, and convenience—highly recommended! We wish to come back next time with our parents.

ThailandNo blind to block the sunlight. Staff entered the room right after a knock. It's embarrassing that we were not prepared for any visits.
It's situated right next to Nara Park. Deer could be seen at the entrance. Japanese style breakfast and dinner were served at good quality. Room was clean. Welcome drink and snack served everyday. Free parking.

SwitzerlandDinner (too expensive for the quality) and the fact that the staff doesn’t speak english. The breakfast is not adequate to International visitors. You can’t get a refusal for a change of the breakfast type the afternoon before because they are already prepared the morning after one. This is unbelivable and unacceptable.
