Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

JapanIt would be fun to stay with a group of friends. I stayed with my 6yrs old daughter and it was a bit spooky staying in the old house with nothing around. It seemed that somebody was living there (old toothbrush at the sink, old towel in the bathroom, somebody's water bottle, etc), but nobody here. But the owner is very friendly and super helpful!

United Kingdomthe house itself has a lot of potential but it’s left extremely dirty. On top of that nature takes over, a lot of spiders, bugs and cockroaches. I knew from the pictures that i wasn’t going to be in a 5 stars palace, but i hoped it wasn’t this bad. Everything is extremely neglected. the futon was not comfortable at all, there was only one bed sheet so i had to use a towel as the one between the futon and the cover.
the lady doing the check in was extremely friendly and welcoming. The house it’s not far from the beach/sea.

United KingdomIt did look like an abandonned house and being there on my own wasn't reassuring. Even though seeing the host, it was a bit of a restless night. Quite spooky but It went all well though.
It was conveniently located on the Shimanami Kaido explorer route and affordable. Nice view of the sea and a snapshot of rural Japanese hamlet. Faciltiies where decent and retro. The host was nice, despipte not speaking same language we understood each other.

FranceNo shops around, you need to bring your own food because you're not gonna find anything within walking distance. Pretty rustic place, not really confortable for people looking for a comfy place
The house is authentic, rustic. I had the house for myself so it was good. The hot tub was good

United StatesMore like grandma's old village house that gets rented out without cleaning her stuff out,, rather than an actual hotel or properly set up pension.. Functional but not very clean or well kept common spaces (but the sleeping room and bathroom were very clean). No WiFi. Unable to figure out how to get the shower to produce hot water.
Charming historic house with traditional futon sleeping. Surprisingly fabulous robot toilet. Allowed to use kitchen.

GermanyI don't even know where to start. The house is in a state as if it has been abandoned for years. In the house it's very dirty, everything is sticky, it stinks, it's damp in the corners and it's very cold. There is a smelly petrol stove in the room for heating. There is insecticide everywhere. There is a very high probability of bed bugs. The stay ruined my whole trip. It's a wonder that such accommodation is offered and is even on booking.com. This house should be demolished. I would love to have my money back.
Actually nothing. The hostess was nice.

United KingdomOn arriving at the property my first thought was that it was derelict. The garden was unkept and the outhouse next door was caved in. On knocking on the door the friendly Chizumi greeted me and showed me in. The whole house had the feel that someones grandparent had passed away and they decided to rent it out without making any changes. Chizumi-san showed me around. To get water from the tap to drink in the kitchen she had to punch the button on the water tap machine on the wall really hard twice before it splittered forth. All the appliances instructions were in japanese and i didnt have internet so i wouldnt have been able to use these or boil the kettle (i dont have internet and the house doesnt have wifi so google translate wasnt an option for me). I couldnt get the tap to work at all once Chizumi-san left. There was also no lock on thr front door and only a flimsy little catch on the bedroom door where i was to stay. I'm sure the place was clean enough but it really didn't feel like it because everything looked and felt very run down - the sliding doors in my bedroom were off the hinges, and grime aroun the backdoor handles. Because of the water situation and the unsatisfactory locks I didnt end up staying there because I didn't feel very safe and needed water. I ended up leaving and cycling another 15km into Imabari.
