Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsNothing, absolutely loved it!
Lovely wooden cottage south of Mount Aso. Really nice atmosphere and run by a very kind host who helped us get to and from the train station. Comes with all the facilities you need including a washing machine. Do make sure you have a car when you go here, we did not have one and it made some travel to the volcano a bit challenging (though taxi / hitchhiking did the trick)

Hong KongDifficult to find the place after sunset, better set a signpost that can reflect light at night, as the isolated house are in total darkness and outside have no light, hope this can be improved.

United KingdomHaving to leave! We stayed one night but would have loved another!
We LOVED our stay here. LOVED! The view is just beautiful and next to the house is a flower garden and vegetable patch. The house is modest but lovely. I wish we had more time there. If you can afford the time I recommend an extra night! We didn't meet the guy who runs it but we met his mum who is so kind, she brought toys and books for our son to play with and gave him delicious home made cakes. Communication was great. They did everything they could to make us as comfortable and welcome as possible. Just wonderful.

NetherlandsWe drove by the cottage the first time and stopped about 100 meters ahead. Then we were approached by some local people, one of which was the owners mother. They were super friendly and she guided us to the correct location. There was a nice big spot to park our car directly in front of the cottage. We had diner at the table outside and enjoyed the night sky. From here you have great views of mount Aso and also the surrounding edges of the caldera. Great experience and one of our best rural stays in Japan. Thanks to the owner and his mother for their hospitality and kindness!

FranceEverything was perfect for a week-end in the country side. If you want to have a break from the big cities in your Japan roadtrip Soils is the perfect place. You can go to a real cute market place where everything is from the farms around, such a nice moment. The owners were nice and careful. From our arrival to the departure they were here to take care of us if we needed anything. Thank you very much for your time and kindness.

AustraliaSet amongst the farm yard, its a bit messy outside, but only compared to the Japanese hotels.
Its was a lovely place to relax in the country side without too much fuss. The cabin had everything we needed from a washing machine to comfortable enough to beds and room to move. The view was spectacular and the hosts were welcoming and friendly.

United StatesNo internet - I didn't need wifi but some travelers might depend on that more than me.
Perfect location! I loved the wonderful stocked kitchen to cook dinner, easy parking, washing machine and excellent views. I stayed here while hiking on Mt Aso for two days, and it was everything I needed. The beds are comfortable, the heater works well, and it has an authentic feeling which I absolutely loved. I just wish the skies would have cleared so I could see the stars.

JapanEven though it was such a cute cottage, I have to say it was quite dusty. The furniture had a thin layer of dust, and the toaster oven and the dishes above it were a bit unclean and oily as well. I think everything should have been cleaned a bit better before accepting guests.
What a cute small cottage with excellent views of the mountains!! Very cozy and felt like a great getaway from our busy lives. We really enjoyed our stay and the quiet area around. We went stargazing at night and took a lovely walk in the morning. We are already talking about coming back some time in the future!

AustraliaThe transformation of this garden shed, I suppose, isn't quite complete. Would require a bit of tidy up, throw some odd old dishes away as well as cumbersone dusty gadgets, and put a few more useful equipment within. The kitchen is the most basic (more like a kitchen, dont intend to cook within). Not as spacious as it could be with all the old gear present within.
Very quiet place, surrounded by nature and a big veggie garden.
