Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Everything. The rooms were beautiful and the bed was comfortable. The onsen was perfect ending for the day and the location was quite nice too- 10-15 minutes walk from the train station and the market is just across the street.

AustraliaEverything was so clean, and such a good mix of modern Japanese design. The Ibsen was great and they give free drinks after. The location was a great halfway point between the Samurai District and the Geisha District. It was also right next to the Omicho markets!

PortugalThe fact that they do not accept people with tattoos unless covered by stickers, which they charge 100/250 yen depending on the size. This is not written anywhere in the hotel website or booking details.

Excellent! The room was beautiful, with cleanliness, refinement, and aesthetics taken care of in the smallest detail. The staff was polite, friendly and helpful. The public bath and the breakfast completed the absolutely positive experience.

NetherlandsThe check in process took a while since there was a long queue and also the rooms were a bit small but this is to be expected since a lot of hotels in Japan are like this.
We had a great time in Kanazawa and the hotel was located in a good area (quiet yet very accessible and right opposite the fish market which had some great food spots). The spa was an added bonus!

United KingdomIt was quite expensive but I think that was because the marathon was on and pushed up all the prices, the only way we got a room was to have it include dinner
The room was clean and well equipped. The spa was an added bonus. It was perfectly located in Kanazawa close to the train station and all the sites in walking distance. The meal that was included in our room price was blow your mind amazing in the small restaurant at the bottom of the hotel. I have coeliac disease and the chef was very careful for me to have food that was ok. Plus it was delicious and finished off with the most amazing pistachio ice cream. They did breakfast too but it was full so we didn’t ah e that

AustraliaThere was no where to really put your suitcase, which made it a bit of a squeeze where there are two of you. Would recommend getting a bigger room or the twin for more room. They made to room so fancy, they forgot functionality. The washing machine is a combo, takes a long time to wash and dry. They also don’t dry well. Recommend going to a local laundromat. There is no real ramp in to the hotel, so be prepared to carry it up the front stairs. Bit of information about the buses to see the attractions would be helpful in the room too.
The location is fantastic, right next to the food markets. The rooms are lovely and look fantastic. It is very clean and has a lovely atmosphere. Staff were very helpful and the room was very quiet. The bathrooms were great, especially as there was no step into it.

AustraliaSome distance from the train station (walkable/or taxi) but close to the Castle, Japanese Gardens and Geisha area. The Shopping precinct is about 1.2 km along with the Samurai area - all walkable. Hotel is clean and comfortable. The Restaurant is exceptional (but not cheap). Due to the layout of the town and location of sight seeing options it is probable in the beast position.

CanadaStaff were always very kind and helpful, always greeted with a smile. The location is great being right across from Omicho market! Everything was close enough to be visited on foot. The hotel itself definitely feels new and modern, was very clean and had a feeling of zen to it. I will definitely return to SOKI Kanazawa in future visits.

AustraliaNo complaints, great value.
This accommodation offers exceptional value for money, conveniently situated opposite the central market. A nearby bus stop provides easy access to the main shopping district, although the area's flat terrain makes walking a pleasant option. The surrounding neighborhood boasts numerous excellent restaurants. The onsen provides a wonderful opportunity to unwind in the evening or early morning.

Beautiful hotel in a great location opposite markets. Quiet hotel, great room although had one to myself. Beds comfortable but low to ground.Sink in bedroom so it may not suit everyone sharing. Lovely private onsen for men and women. Friendly staff although minimal interaction. Helped us with a medical issue on last day so very grateful.
