Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Incredible place I will remember this experience my entire life The host is a very kind monk. Google translate is used for communication and it worked very well Can recommend it for couples and also for solo travelers. A one of a kind experience. I was the only western person, surrounded by Japanese people. It felt very authentic 1 day is perfect for it. I did 2 days, which was nice as I could go hiking next to the temple experience Thanks for everything

SwedenThis was an outstanding experience. The chief priest and his family are amazing. The rooms are big and spacious, the food is very good. Minobu as an area is so beautiful, with large mountains covered with green cedartrees and nestled in between are all the important temples. The chief priest did an astounishing work in introducing us to the buddhist practices. The walk to the morning prayer, 04:45 in the morning is very very rewarding.

BulgariaAmazing atmosphere, super clean and spacious rooms. We learned a lot about Buddhism and the chief monk Ken and his family were so very nice and welcoming. They explained a lot about history, Buddhism and gave us great recommendations about walking around - definitely the highlight of our trip in Japan so far! Food was super authentic too. An advice - take a taxi from the station, it’s not expensive and the road is super steep. Also go to the morning prayer.

United KingdomWe had an amazing two nights at Habanobo. Ken and his family made us feel so welcome and learning about Buddhism from Ken was very interesting. Minobu is a beautiful and peaceful area and Ken gave us some excellent tips on walks in the area. The temple is very well kept, and our room was very large with lovely views. The breakfast and dinner was excellent and very carefully prepared and presented. Would love to go back one day!

GermanyI dont have words to describe my stay at the temple lodge Habanobo. It was a very special stay surrounded by very special hosts, stunning nature around and the most delightful interiors. The meals we ate everyday nourished not just our bodies but our souls. we were glad to learn about the principles of buddhistic cooking and how much effort they put in every detail of the preparation. The morning and evening chants were a unique life experience and we got to connect with the energy of the place and the people. We are really gratefull for this experience!

ItalyStaying at the Habanobo Temple is not just a simple stay, but a meaningful experience. The place is comfortable, the rooms are large and clean, and the traditional meals are delicious. But what we appreciated even more was the chance to experience the everyday life of monks. The monk at Habanobo explained a lot of things to us about Buddhism, suggested what to visit nearby, and involved us in different activities, for free.

JapanI liked all of the property! I don’t have any complaints.
This temple stay was amazing! it was definitely a unique way to experience Japan and learn a lot about Buddhist history and culture in Japan. The room, facilities, and location were all beautiful. The head monk at this temple explained that the rooms were simple and humble but they’re actually very beautiful and clean and create a relaxing atmosphere. The futon mats are also incredibly warm and well-cushioned. The food was so delicious as well! you have the option to eat at a table or traditionally (on the floor with a stray). There are quite a few English language pamphlets and written explanations about the foods and historical aspects. Overall: definitely one of the best stays I’ve had in my 7 years living in Japan! Thank you for this amazing experience! I hope to come back again!
