The room we stayed at had sloped ceiling and very low table and small windows. This made the room dark and a little difficult to use. We had to sit on a stool in order to use the bathroom sink because the ceiling, mirror, and sink were very low. I think it can't be helped because it is an old house. The owner did a tremendous job to modernize it while preserving the original architect, and the interior is very tastefully done. One other minor suggestion is to provide some body lotion in the room. We are traveling light and didn't bring a lot of toiletry. I missed lotion. But all and all, a great stay. Thank you.

It's a beautifully renovated old house in the charming old town area. The staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. Received our luggage and helped to ship it to the next hotel. Upon arrival, we were able to purchase wine and sake. It's very nice and convenient. We also had fresh fruits, water, and bread in the room every day. Staff also helped to find a gluten-free restaurant for my husband. Stepping out of the house, you are right in the middle of old town which made exploring very easy. Our room faced the canal, and it was all lit up at night for the spring. Very pretty to look at.

The shower high temperature was limited a little low, and the small, wireless TV had limited battery life.

My husband is tall so there was a bit of head ducking in places, but we found that to be pretty common!

This was a beautiful room, very attractive design, spacious and in a perfect area for touring Kurashiki. It is exactly as pictured. The beds were comfortable and everything was immaculate. Check in was easy. Good communication with hosts, and restaurant recommendations, which was helpful. It’s not a hotel per se, and so no meals included but they provided a basket of fruit and baked goods daily and coffee, so that was perfect for breakfast. It was all we needed. The seating area has a good view over the canal so you could not be better situated.

Staff were charming and helpful, but language barrier - both ways - made communication sometimes hard.

The apartment was exquisitely renovated using ancient materials and tradditions - from tatami to tableware - but fitted with all the highest standard modern, electronic plumbing and domestic equipment. Overlooking a pretty garden courtyard, central but calm and quiet location

1. I reserved two places from the same company. So it will be nicer if we can simply check in at one place and then the service lady can take us to another house. 2. I would also recommend to set up a little service area (just a few seats) in the Mingei Plaza side so that we can simply check in from there. It's quite difficult to toll heavy luggage through little alleys during high heat, especially the store is actually hiding behind the main street with an obscure entrance. (i actually walked 3 times before finding it)

We love the room and the design. Every morning we felt very blessed when waking up seeing the lovely garden and bright sunlight. Definitely would love to come back again.

We liked it all! But some might find the futon beds to be too firm. There is a lot of warmth from the sun, so the room might be hot in the summer.

Very nice Japanese style room in a restored historical building. The facilities were excellent - very tasteful and clean restoration. The room was quite spacious - unlike many hotel rooms in Japan. We wish we had stayed for more than one night!

Travelling with kids, especially more of teenagers, it was somewhat crowded to have everyone sleeping in one room. However, this is part of the traditional Japanese setup.

Everything was perfect.

The room is huge and very comfortable! It looks a bit dark on the photos, but it's so much better then that! It's right in the center of the old village, but you won't hear anything from the outside really. The seating area is really nice and we loved the provided breakfast. The kitchen is beautiful and convenient as well. The bathroom is really spacious.
