Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SpainThe location of the hostel is not the best, it's quite a shady area. I stayed in a top bed and while puting my phone to charge, my charger slipped through my hand and it fell on the bottom bed. It'd be nice to have something put there so nothing can fall.
Very clean hostel. People are very kind, helpful and respectful. It's a shame I only stayed for one night. I love how it was organized. Great place!

ArgentinaThe staff is so kind. The coffee is GREAT. Loved the chai latte. Also the beds are super comfortable and the people I met there, absolutely the best. Great energy in general, which is key when traveling alone. You have a lot of space for your things compared to other hostels I stayed in. And around the area you can do so many things. Also namba is really close. I went there walking everyday.

SpainThe only thing I would improve is the ventilation of the rooms. Tip for travelers: open the windows when you leave and turn on the AC at night. But we'll, it is a hostel, these things are normal I guess.
The Hotel's workers are incredible. I interacted with at least 4 of them and they were so kind, helpful, happy and cheerful. We talked in English and they helped me practice my (terrible) Japanese. Thank you all for the wonderful stay. Also, they work very hard. There was always someone cleaning and fixing things. One day the soap dispenser broke, and they fixed it right away. The place is also very well located in the heart of Shinsekai, next to the metro, mall, konbini, etc. Possibility to wash your clothes etc. The coffee shop is lovely and they ALWAYS have good music. How do they do it? And all my roommates had nice vibes. I will definitely stay again at PAX if one day I'll come back to Osaka. Thank you guys.

Super friendly hostel with lovely staff and loads of communal space. Right in the centre of Shinsekai area with loads of fantastic restaurants on your doorstep.

Czech RepublicPlease note, that there is no elevator and the stairs are soooooo narrow and pretty steep which makes it almost impossible to go to your room with suitcase or big backpack. The luggage room is also is on the second room. I also wish they organized some activities for guests like walking tours or pub crawls or anything else
The location is good! and stuff are very nice! I also liked the rooftop!

United StatesNothing. But bring a padlock so you can secure your belongings in the room lockers.
Incredibly cozy, friendly, and warm home base for a trip to Osaka. Downstairs is a cafe with vintage records and books and comfy places to hang out. Upstairs, there's a kitchen and laundry facilities. We had a private room. Everyone was friendly. It's a great location. Highly recommend this hostel!!

NetherlandsSuper clean and cosy with nice amenities. The beds were comfortable, albeit a bit squeaky because it was made out of wood. The hostel provides everyone with ear plugs so this wasn't a big issue.

United StatesAs one might expect in Osaka, the space is quite small and has multiple floors. While they make great use of the small space, guests with large luggage will probably have a hard time using the narrow, steep staircases.
Pax is a wonderful hostel (and cafe!) that has great character, good amenities, and very kind and helpful staff. Guests receive a helpful check-in guide with a lock to store small valuables in the bunks. The bathroom and laundry were in good condition. While I did not meet all the staff (it appears there's quite a lot of them for a small hostel!), those who I did meet were so kind and gave some recommendations for a first-timer in Osaka. Regarding the location, you could hardly find a better place to stay, in my opinion. Osaka has a lot of tourist attractions that are spread over the large city, but what makes Ebisuhigashi stand out is the kitschy, walkable street market. Dotonbori is another major tourist attraction that I could walk to, but it is a bit of a hike.

AustraliaThere’s not enough showers, only one shared for 10 people. The curtains do let a lot of sunlight in, in the morning, but not really an issue if you have eye mask. Unfortunately, it wasn’t very social during my stay, It’s a small hostel so it tends to be very quiet but that depends on who is staying, although it seems like they do a social event on a sat night.
Great hostel with a rustic vibe, nice common area, chill music/record player. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location with Shinsekai as your backyard and short walk to two subway stations. 30min walk to Dotonburi. Always clean toilets and shower. Big lockers for suitcases.

DenmarkOnly negative I can really give this place is that even with AC on full blast my top bunk in the 10-bed room got a little hot, not enough to disrupt my sleep in any way though
Staff and people staying here were awesome, very social, if you're traveling solo and you're not confident in your japanese, you'll find some drinking buddies here Facilities include everything you need, only 2 showers in the building but I never experienced any real waiting time for it, as guests seem considerate all around. Kitchen on the top floor, rooftop drinking/relaxation area Bar area on ground floor has free ice water/tea and always someone to talk to Bunks are big and comfy! No complaints there Awesome place, would gladly stay there again AWESOME COST PERFORMANCE

AustraliaLovely hostel with loads of character, and super friendly staff. The bar/cafe downstairs was a great place to meet people and it seemed like hostel guests and locals were hanging out there. The rooftop was an awesome space to have a few beers. Beds were super comfy and spacious, and there were good curtains so the bunks felt private.

NetherlandsMy second stay at PAX after a few years, and I’ll definitely be back! Comfortable beds, powerful showers, and great atmosphere for meeting both locals and other travellers - all in a great location. However, the staff at PAX are the real gems. I received a warm welcome back after four years, and they are always on hand to answer any questions, give recommendations or just have a friendly chat. I doubt any hostel in Japan will top my experience at PAX.
