Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThe hotel was really great for the price. Everything is traditional Japanese; tatami everywhere and you take your shoes off right at the entrance rather than walking to your room with them. Onsen is not tattoo-friendly so I did not use, but I went to Yamagata one day to use the hot spring there instead. Breakfast was terrific, with many small plates to try lots of the food of Sendai. The staff was extremely helpful, and gave me suggestions for where to eat harakomeshi.

AustraliaA bit far from the train station. It would be nice to have comfortable seating in the room.
There is free ice cream after onsen at night and yakuruto in the morning. Great to have snack ramen in the evening. Breakfast was fantastic value for the money.

NorwayNothing!
Five minutes from the station with fantastic, helpful and polite staff helped me with anything I was unsure of in a Japanese style hotel. Beautiful onsen facilities, quiet and tranquil when I visited it. Great Japanese-style breakfast breakfast. You can travel light as there is everything you need and super easy laundry facilities. Sendai is a great city to visit with Mount Zao / local onsen and Matsushima etc all within easy reach for great days out. A very relaxing stay.

MalaysiaBreakfast was exceptional. And I like that it offers free supper and ice cream, as well as free laundry. Like the concept of wearing no shoes inside the hotel, it feels free like home. The hot spring on the roof top is not too crowded also, and I really enjoy it! Room size looks small but it's neat and clean and enough for 2 adults.

CanadaThere is an automatic light that turns on in the doorway of the room, which gets activated when you walk towards the bathroom. The brightness of the light made it hard to go back to sleep in the middle of the night.
The onsen and sauna were very pleasant, with lockers available to store your things. They had late night noodles and after bath snacks available, which elevated the whole experience.

New ZealandI think it would be nice if there were English signs on the drink machines in the restaurant area
Loved staying here!!! The staff were very friendly, they let us leave our luggage before check in and after check out. There were washing machines free of charge in a room connected to the bath area. As well as a coin dryer in there too. There were free ice creams/ice blocks after evening onsen and free probiotics drinks after morning onsen. Staff were very professional, our room was clean and spacious. The onsens were fantastic, very well maintained. There was a sauna, a cold bath, an indoor and outdoor bath. Lots of amenities in the lobby as well as in the bathing areas. We had breakfast while we stayed here and it was great. Really appreciated the fact that most things were in little containers/plates. Loved staying here, really recommend it.

AustriaThe room was spotless, so it was really clean. The natural Hot Spring and also the sauna both were a dream and fortunately it was never completely full, after a long walk through the Sendai Region it was quite a relieve and in the evening (in a specific timeframe) you can even enjoy a free ramen :) And also, the staff was really friendly and helped if you needed something or had a Question and a advantage is also the location, cause it's not far from the train station :D
