Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SingaporeThe taking off shoes and disinfecting luggage wheels is extra work but totally understandable given the tatame and keeping up of cleanliness.
The facilities are very nice with an onsen and related goodies (like free ice cream). The breakfast is very good and we like the free ramen, although we all know we paid for it in the room charge, it is still a nice little thing to have at night.

MalaysiaThe only problem is the fact that it is not Halal-friendly for the Free Ramen they provide and it's kind of difficult to find Halal food around the area. There is a Lawsons next door but even there has non-Halal food so it was hard to find food.
The onsen was the highlight of the trip!! We only stayed for 2 nights but we made the most of it. The service was great as the staff was very kind and friendly.

SingaporeRoom was a bit small, but I guess it is normal for Japan.
The location, sento (onsen) public baths, breakfast. Hotel is located not in the center, but definitely worth it. Not crowded compared to city center, a lot of local restaurants around, very close to metro station.

United StatesSmall room, having to take off and store shoes in lockers at lobby level. If the flooring was real tatami matting I would understand this, but it is actually synthetic flooring made to look like traditional tatami.
A modern hotel with the look and feel of a traditional inn (quasi-tatami flooring, etc.), in a good central Osaka location near the Yodo River, close to public transit. A big plus is the very nice onsen/public bath facility. Free noodles after 9:00 pm was a nice perk. too. Room was small, typical of Japanese hotels, and had no view (except of building walls) but was quiet and comfortable. If staying here again I would request (and pay a bit more) for an upper-floor room facing the river side; asked to upgrade when I checked in but hotel wasn't able to accommodate this request.

AustraliaLocated in the business area and nothing much around. Booking.com has charged me way too much for this hotel as I saw it advertised on the hotel site for half the price, I was very annoyed but couldn't change my booking as I was locked in on a no-cancellation booking for this one. I am a Lv2 member with Booking.com and can't believe I still get ripped off. Never book something under no cancellation as prices always come down.. lesson learnt
The onsen and late night snacks are great perks and much appreciated after a long day of walking. Nearest Subway station about 7minutes walk away.

SingaporeThe pillows were very small. :(
The onsen was nice and the rooms were very cozy. Located within minutes of a major train station, you can get around from one point to another (e.g. Namba, Kyoto etc.) without walking for more than 10 minutes. The convenience store located right next to the hotel was nice too!

ChinaI paid for a double occupancy room for me and my son. I only found one complementary water in the fridge. So I asked front desk and they said they only offer complementary water to adults. Through my 20+ years of global travel experience, I have never seen any hotel that refuse to give complementary water to a seven-year old child, not to mention a 330ml water that is worth less than 100 yen. The front desk lady spoke to me like this is a sacred hotel rule and children do not deserve a bottle of water. 😳 For a hotel that offers free popsicle and ramen after spa, making fuss over a bottle of water is just weird…
Facilities are great. A lot of details in services.
