Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesVery far from the main city. Travel by train takes a while to get places. Also the walk to the train station is 20 minutes. Difficult if you have heavy luggage.
Host was very kind and accommodating. Offered to pick us up from the train station which was a huge help. Beds were very comfortable and the house was clean. Also the room was relatively cheap. Great for a genuine local Japanese experience

United StatesThe house is more like a shared Airbnb than a hotel. This isn't a negative for everyone, but for some people who are super introverted or anxious, this might be nerve-racking. My partner and I are both relatively introverted and didn't mind at all. We didn't find it awkward after a day or two.
The host was great. It's a nice house and it's kept clean. The area is relatively quiet and very safe. The internet is good! For those who like to stay fit while traveling, there's a community park about 5-10 minutes walk from the house. It has calisthenics bars and track material for the pavement. Minumadai train station is about a 15 minute walk and runs straight to Nippori station. Nippori is a hub that goes to Ueno and Akihabara without transfer, making them very accessible. Shibuya is about an hour from Nippori. I recommend this stay if you're interested in the east side of Tokyo.

CanadaIt's in residential neighbourhood, so small business close early, except 7-11; but you have all kind of choices (especially the restaurants) at Nippori Station (日暮里駅), where you take the train back to the place.
The host is very kind, considerate and nice to chat with, she tried to pick up from train station but we missed it due to our internet connection issue; we were given a lift when we departed for the next city with heavy luggages. The room is very spacial and comfy for Tokyo standard.

DenmarkUnfortunately this was our first bad stay in Japan. Let’s start with the location, which is very far from central. It will take you 1,5 hour from central. And 25 minutes of it it’s walking from the station. Apart from that the eating choices are very limited and got a bad food poisoning at one of the restaurants nearby. The cleanliness is very doubtful, since there were literally whole foods laying on the floor, old food from the previous guests. Take a look under the bed, it filt with old food and dirt. And then the worst part! The house is incredible cold, so cold that you can’t sleep at night. It felt like you were sleeping in a iglo, and the second night we had to bring out the second sheet and keep all our clothes on + 1 layer. And it was STILL COLD. Usually I’m very fond of sleeping cold, I sleep with the window open in the winter. But this was hardcore. So from my experience I don’t see how this gets so good ratings??
Cozy House Nice people, and very friendly.
