Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Hong KongI believed I was assigned with the biggest and largest house (they have different houses). Very nice decor and nice garden. Enjoyed a relax and quiet night. Traditional japanese style breakfast, taste good.

SingaporeTo nitpick, the place is few hundred metres from Seibu Chichibu station with some rolling hills. The staff did sent us to the station when we checked out though.
Super friendly and patient staff despite a bit of language barrier. Complimentary alcohol and drinks in fridge. Cozy place and wonderful breakfast. The lodging is participating in a local tourism programme that provides some perks and benefits when patronising certain stores / places. I particularly like the 5-min sake tasting experience at Buko Shuzo.

United StatesWe had some trouble finding the room. Check-in is at a different location. They give you a map, but the address of the actual room had a typo. Short version: if they offer you a ride to the room, take it!
The rooms were great. Tatami sleeping area plus a traditional sunken hearth room. The attached bathroom had a cool wooden bathtub. Booking this room also gets you freebies and discounts at nearby restaurants, bars, and sentos. The bento breakfast was a work of art.

SingaporeThis place has so much more potential. It's all nice and old, but it lacks thoughtful touch, which is usually common in Japan. Examples, there is no small table or surface in the room, no hooks (only 4 hangers and a towel rack), the bathroom was ice cold, there is free sake but no cups, etc Understandable this is a traditional house, but it is very bare and some basic comfort would be nice. Maybe it would be somewhat better during summer. The house itself is another 10 min walk from the reception and the town itself (not the location shown on the map). Do note, the photos show various of their properties, but not necessarily the one you may be staying at.
Nice, old restored house Clean Free 45 minutes sauna/bath included (but a 10 min walk away) Free drinks (beer, sake, water, coffee/tea) The breakfast has a good variety (although cold)

AustraliaNothing, really. The worst thing I can say is that if you have bad knees or a morbid fear of heights, the old-style stairs would be too steep and challenging..
The staff were lovely. The traditional room (named Takumi; a small house) was so great to experience and was the reason we stayed there. The local tour was fun and a great way to find places around town.

JapanSteep stairs, not good for the elderly. Breakfast was great but cold. Would be better if the garden had more trees and flowering plants.
Charming inn of renovated old houses with a common area that comes with free water and other beverages. Spacious rooms with designated functions. Perfect for families and couples. We ate our breakfast at the washitsu, drank the free beer in the living room and had a relaxing bath. We also used the private onsen and sauna. The inn booked us a reservation at a nearby restaurant. You can keep your luggage at the reception area or sent nearby the station as you continue to explore the town. Great location, restaurants, shops, convenient stores are just a walk away.
